What are the lines on the left for? lazarus / 9-Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- hinst · 2013-11-30 21:45 In Lazarus I have green and yellow lines on the left of the code editor window. I wonder what are they for??? In my opinion, they are useless. Even worse, they make it harder to look at code folding lines //like [ + ]----[ - ] because code folding lines are thin, but those green and yellow lines are thick and distract my attention away from code folding thingies. Code folding thingies, on the contrary, are not useless because they indicate structural blocks of code. P.S.: and by the way, how do I turn these green-and-yellow lines off? I searched for option but could not find it. Perhaps because I don't know what are they called. Please see the attachment.... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- User137 · 2013-11-30 21:48 From the screenshot i would guess that compiler will ignore the yellow areas. Code, commented places or something that's not used in ready program. (Thanks taazz.) I can't tell for now because i have hidden the entire left bar as useless for me. Need to know line numbers, yeah they're shown in bottom left corner. Want to debug a line, just click a row and F5 highlight. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- taazz · 2013-11-30 22:00 no color = unchaged since last load, green= changed but saved. yellow = changed but not saved. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Graeme · 2013-12-01 10:02 Quote from: hinst on November 30, 2013, 10:45:10 pmIn Lazarus I have green and yellow lines on the left of the code editor window. But yes, in my opinion it is pretty useless. Your version control software (Git, SubVersion etc) already tells you all this and more.
