I use Linux. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- taazz · 2013-11-07 17:35 using alt+mouse select does not work? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Morton · 2013-11-07 17:38 Quote from: taazz on November 07, 2013, 06:35:39 pmusing alt+mouse select does not work? No. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2013-11-07 17:40 GTK2 or QT ?  Or Both? Which Linux, Gnome, or KDE, or ... Using - alt mouse - alt-shift cursor On some linux, alt-mouse may not work, as the Window-manager uses this, and it is never send to the app (instead it may move the entire window) If it is keyboard: Do other shortcuts with the alt key work? E.g in the options: assign something to alt cursor-left, does it work? What happens when you try to select in column mode (press shift-alt- cursor-[left,right,up,down])? Please check that the keycombo is not taken by your window manager (e.g. switching workspace / which may do nothing, if there is no other to switch to). On most Linux most WM steal certain shortcuts, and the app will never know. It may also be a problem in the LCL gtk or QT specific code (LCL- Widgetset). If it is GTK or QT only then that is very likely. If it is this, then it is not part of my expertise, and someone else has to look at it. If the problem is bound to the alt key in some way, then as a workaround (until the problem is fixed): - assign other shortcuts - assign shortcuts to toggle the default selection mode (keyboard options). Then you can toggle normal selection (shift-cursor) to do either column or normal selection Mouse can also be changed to use a different modifier key ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Morton · 2013-11-07 18:02 I use Linux Mint Mate. Shift-alt-cursor works. Thanks. Alt Mouse moves the whole window, which should only work after Alt F. Alt Mouse is not as a keyboard shortcut in the manager. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2013-11-07 18:09 Quote from: Morton on November 07, 2013, 07:02:58 pmAlt Mouse moves the whole window, which should only work after Alt F. Ok, that is something that would be handled by the LCL-Widgetset code. Something I am not currently involved in. So that needs to be answered by someone else. As long as it does not work, you can go to Tools > Options > Editor > Mouse: And assign "column mode selection" to another combo. e.g. shift-ctrl-mouse may work. Though if you also need a combo to continue an existing column mode selection ten you need to see what else is free (omitting the alt key) or move other settings. Right mouse button also depends on the OS and WM, if it can be used or not. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Morton · 2013-11-07 18:30 Asigning shift strg works. thanks.
