F1 help in object properties. no help. lazarus / 9-Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DelFly · 2013-08-15 11:34 If im pressing F1 in object properties to get help for some item. the help selector open so you can select what you want. after clicking ok. no help pages are opening. Is there something you need to install seperate ? windows 8 desktop, Lazarus V 1.0.10 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Leledumbo · 2013-08-15 13:39 No, the context sensitive help should be launched (and built if it's not yet). Could you try in source editor? Either with caret under an identifier or in a free space. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BigChimp · 2013-08-15 13:44 AFAIU, context sensitive help for properties in the OI or for entire components on forms has not been implemented yet. For the latter, see bug http://bugs.freepascal.org/view.php?id=23410 For the former, if a bug hasn't been raised already, I think raising one would be a good idea. (Note: a lot of keywords/objects/properties have no help associated yet, so please test with a property for which help does exist if calling F1 with the cursor+focus on the source editor window - like Leledumbo suggested) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- howardpc · 2013-08-15 19:38 Quote from: BigChimp on August 15, 2013, 03:44:22 pmAFAIU, context sensitive help for properties in the OI ... has not been implemented yet. Really? Pressing F1 after clicking the name of a property to highlight it in the Object Inspector shows the appropriate help entry for me (Windows 7, Laz 1.0.10) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DelFly · 2013-08-15 19:41 I mean i click in the object inspector -> properties -> F1 -> object selector -> [select] -> [ok] but after that the help page dont appear with the info. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Leledumbo · 2013-08-15 21:44 QuoteI mean i click in the object inspector -> properties -> F1 -> object selector -> [select] -> [ok] but after that the help page dont appear with the info.It does appear here. Do you have anything written in the messages window (log, info, error, whatever)? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DelFly · 2013-08-15 21:51 Not sure what you mean. wich logs ? if i choice item "select help item:" press ok. nothing happens, no error in lazarus nothing. I can just proceed with programming, or in this case search on internet. Not use lazarus very long so not every spot is dicovered. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Leledumbo · 2013-08-15 21:57 QuoteNot sure what you mean. wich logs ?If there is none written, then probably nothing is wrong. But could you verify that you have $(LazarusDir)/components/chmhelp/lhelp/lhelp[.exe]? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DelFly · 2013-08-15 22:06 Intressting, offcorse im worried about chm help and windows 7 or windows 8. but the problem maby  looks more easy. now only the solution. if i check option -> help  is see under viewers htm browser & chm help viewer. Both are point to nothing, just empty. also the fpc doc html path is empty. So it looks like lazarus never installed the right viewer files / links. Further inside the lazarus installation directory i cant find much about help files to (looking with total commander) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BigChimp · 2013-08-16 05:03 You don't need a lot of settings. Please check against the list at http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Installing_Help_in_the_IDE#Installi ng_CHM_help_for_the_RTL.2C_FCL_and_LCL_in_the_Lazarus_IDE Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DelFly · 2013-08-16 17:53 Thanks, that worked for the CHM version. But i preffer to install the html version if available. Because the CHM version use a small font and for some parts cleartype is disabled and that makes reading really bad. and the option to increase font size dont work. ctrl+mousewheel. So how can i change fontsize in chm help ? Or is tehre some html installer thats useing the webbrowser ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BigChimp · 2013-08-17 06:42 Haven't found a way to change the font size in the lhelp chm viewer. You could try using the Windows CHM viewer. As for HTML help: it's described in the wiki how to set that up, IIRC.
