Tool to move projects lazarus / 9-Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jack616 · 2013-08-15 11:29 Is there a tool to move a project from one path to another? I have one for delphi but cant find one that works with lazarus. TIA ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BigChimp · 2013-08-15 11:41 You can save the project as something else in Lazarus. Presumably that works for moving it to a different directory as well? Have you tried? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jack616 · 2013-08-15 12:06 hi BC no saving the project elsewhere leaves all the paths and other info pointing to the original directory and you end up with a confusing mix of source files. Just modifying the source and dest. paths doesnt work. Its isnt as simple as it sounds hence the tool is needed to modify all the files for delphi. a similar problem exists with lazarus. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BigChimp · 2013-08-15 12:18 You do know you can specify relative paths in Lazarus for files etc? IIRC, this happens by default when adding file... though I'm not completely sure. For including other sets of files in fixed places, the Lazarus philosophy/design involves using .lpk files and include those... Edit: normally I never worry about moving project files around, so you're probably including fixed paths in some way... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Leledumbo · 2013-08-15 13:46 By default Lazarus should save relative paths so moving projects anywhere should never be a problem (well how do you think you can build lazarus and those bunch of example projects from source, regardless wherever you put it? remember that lazarus is built in itself, it even has a .lpi). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- howardpc · 2013-08-15 19:31 Lazarus already has a tool to copy projects cleanly to a new directory. See the IDE menu: Project -> Publish project... Simply set the location of the new directory, accept the offered defaults, and click OK in the Publish Project dialog, and the job is done. The original project is unaffected, so if it is a move you were after (rather than a copy) you need to manually delete the original project files using OS shell commands or whatever.
