Editor top code line turns blue lazarus / 9-Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ruptor · 2013-01-26 00:48 I seem to get a blue translucent line across the top line of code in the editor always in the same procedure. Is the system trying to tell me something? I don't remember ever seeing it before but I am relatively new to FPC and Lararus. I am using version 1.0.4 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- wjackson153 · 2013-01-26 00:54 Can you post a screen shot but chances are if your not getting a error on message window is prolly just a setting you have changed in editor options for highlighting ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ruptor · 2013-01-26 01:03 here is pic ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Blaazen · 2013-01-26 01:25 It's a new feature. You know what method/proc/function you edit, if the method body is larger than source editor. You can switch it off in Tools -> Options -> nodes Editor -> Display -> checkbox "Show class/proc hint" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ruptor · 2013-01-26 11:47 Oh Ok thanks.  I thought it might be telling me something but I couldn't grasp what because its behaviour seemed quirky. At first I thought it was ssomething to do with curly bracket comments because I changed them to // for each line and the blue line disappeared but when I scrolled down and up the blue line came back. I managed to find the checkbox "Show class/proc hint" under this path, your "nodes editor" threw me at first. Tools -> Options -> Editor -> Display -> When the box is checked or unchecked the blue line doesn't respond until the editor is scrolled. This means the blue line gets stuck until it leaves the window. I am going to leave it turned on now I know what it means thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2013-01-26 13:58 This is how it is meant to behave: The blue top line is shown, if - A procedure or class is partly scrolled out of the top of the visible area *AND* - The caret is in that procedure Code: [Select]Tools -> Options -> Editor -> Display -> When the box is checked or unchecked the blue line doesn't respond until the editor is scrolled. This means the blue line gets stuck until it leaves the window. Can you give further details on this? If I uncheck the setting, and press "ok" in the options, the blue line immediately disappears. If that is not the case for you, can you: - specify your exact OS - attach or send in private (lazarus .a.t. mfriebe.de) your editoroptions.xml (to be found in primary config path / see menu "view" > "ide internals" > "about ide") - attach or send the unit (specify which line goes on top, and where the caret goes) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ruptor · 2013-01-26 23:58 I have tried switching the checkbox "Show class/proc hint" both under lazarus on linux suse & windows XP and it works the same so it looks like a feature. I define feature as an unintentional mode of operation that is a not critical. All the settings are as Lazarus has installed them straight out of the box under windows & linux. The quirk is that the blue line remains after the option has been unchecked and it can be scrolled up and down the window but once it is scrolled outside the view it gets removed. I don't understand what you mean by "The caret is in that procedure" do you mean cursor? The operation is not a show stopper just a quirk. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2013-01-27 00:32 Quote from: Ruptor on January 27, 2013, 12:58:35 amI have tried switching the checkbox "Show class/proc hint" both under lazarus on linux suse & windows XP and it works the same so it looks like a feature. That is intention * But: If you uncheck the option, you should have "the old"/"normal" behaviour. There should be no blue line at all. Quote The quirk is that the blue line remains after the option has been unchecked and it can be scrolled up and down the window but once it is scrolled outside the view it gets removed. This "quirk" does not happen on my PC. If I un-check the box in the options, the blue line is immediately removed. So there is a bug. I will investigate this. And hopefully it can be fixed in the next release. Though, I believe, once you scrolled the blue away, it stays gone? Quote I don't understand what you mean by "The caret is in that procedure" do you mean cursor? The operation is not a show stopper just a quirk. caret = text cursor Look at the image. The caret/cursor is in TSynEditMarkupHighlightAllBase.GetNextMarkupColAfterRowCol, the name of that procedure is scrolled out. So the blue line appears. If the caret/cursor was in TSynEditMarkupHighlightAllBase.Invalidate then the blue line would not be there. Even though that procedure would still be scrolled out. It looks at where the caret is, and shows you info relevant to this position, if that info is not currently scrolled in. This is useful if you did a search, and you do not know which procedure you are in. Or if you go to the declaration of a method (ctrl-left mouse): You may get to a "Procedure Something" in the middle of a class that has 100 procedures. So you do not see the name of the class. (You do with the blue info) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2013-01-27 00:34 Could you send your EditorOptions.XML as described, please? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ruptor · 2013-01-27 01:32 Quote from: Martin_fr on January 27, 2013, 01:32:39 amThough, I believe, once you scrolled the blue away, it stays gone? Yes once scrolled off it don't come back. My options file is attached. I have never come across the cursor being called a caret before. A caret to me is the ^ symbol used to mark things in proofreading. Strange I have the quirky behaviour and you don't. I should add that it happens on two different computers as well as operating systems. Had to rename XML file type to TXT to attach it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2013-01-27 22:34 ok the "quirk" should be fixed, and should be in tomorrows snapshots (if their revision - the 5 digit number in the name - is over 39986. It will also be in the next release. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ruptor · 2013-01-28 12:53 Yes it works now in my windows version 39991 snapshot. Well done and thanks.
