F12 switch between editor and form issues lazarus / 9-Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- snorkel · 2012-12-07 16:07 Hi, Just wondering if I am not doing this properly. When I select a editor tab and put the cursor in the editor so it has focus and then hit the F12 key most of the time it does not switch to the form, I have to hit the F12 key a couple of times minimum before it switches. That's all I should have to do right?  select the tab and hit f12? This is using 32bit Laz 1.0.4 on 64bit windows 7 and the IDE is in docked mode. Ideas comments? Thanks, Snorkel ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Blaazen · 2012-12-07 16:13 I had similar experience in past. But now I tested and (to my surprise) works well, on the first hit. Now matter what Lazarus window is focused (OI, Call Stack, ...). I use Linux+Qt and SVN for years. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2012-12-07 16:31 Your version of Lazarus? Your OS? One or multiple SourceEdit windows open? Any dock-manager installed? Normally, even if things go wrong, the 2nd F12 (if nothing else like mouse clicks) happened inbetween should work. Well there are 2 things that I can think of as cause: 1) The IDE switches focus, but the window manager (gtk) does not bring the window to front. Put 2 buttons on the form, and select one. Then to test focus of the form, use arrow keys, and see if selected button changes. 2) The IDE stores, if it is in designer or source mode. Pressing F12 toggles that. It is also updated, when you focus a design form or source editor. - Again some window managers (gtk) do strange stuff with focus (or at least Lazarus does not always understand them / lots of work went into that, but there are so many different ones, to way to test all) - Also some dock mgr could affect focus. Then if you click the source editor, the internal mode flag would not update. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- snorkel · 2012-12-07 17:26 Quote from: Martin_fr on December 07, 2012, 05:31:29 pmYour version of Lazarus? Hi Martin, I posted all of that in the OP, except for the number of source windows, which is yes, I usually have several open at once. I didn't add that because most people are going to have more than one open. What happens is if I do get it to work and then click on another editor tab and hit f12 again it goes back to the last tab. There is something not working right here in my observations. Could it be related to the docking? Maybe. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2012-12-07 18:38 Ups, mea culpa I overlooked that. Which dock mgr? Anchor, Easy. codetyphoon (whatever the name (Glas I think)), KZDesktop? All the docking stuff is beta, quite possible it interferes. Have you tested without? -- My tests (Laz 1.1 but 1 or 2 weeks old), Anchor and Easy docking: you may need F12 twice. The IDE does not notice the mode change, if the source editor is clicked by mouse, after the designer was active. This is at least, if OI, main bar and SourceEdit are all docked together. The others I do not use. (Well I do not use those either, but I have extra installations of Laz, with them installed, for testing) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TS-MPS · 2013-01-29 18:05 I have this happen seemingly at random to me when working on a project, whereby one or more forms is suddenly not viewable and/or not selectable in Object Inspector. The not viewable one is usually because the form's top/left properties have been randomly updated to very off-screen values such as -1283 or something. No idea why, but this is fixable by just editing the values in the Object Inspector and bringing the form back onto the viewable screen. However, for the times that the IDE won't let me select the form in the Object Inspector the only fix I have is to exit from Lazarus entirely and relaunch. I still get this two or three times a day, it's annoying rather than anything else. It would be nice to have a method to automatically reset all of your project's forms back to viewable co-ordinates with a single icon click somewhere...
