Cannot right-arrow past end of line lazarus / 9-Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- murray · 2012-10-23 18:04 I'm on SVN lazarus on Win64 (rev 39148), and I think I've accidentally hit some key sequence that's toggled an editor mode, where I cannot move the caret using the right-arrow key beyond the second-last character on a line. If I go to the end of another, longer line, then down-arrow, then the caret stays on the correct column, but I can then only go left (right arrow does not move right). For example, if I have two lines: { this is a comment X} { short} then on the first line, I can hold right-arrow, and the caret stops between the X and }. I can then down-arrow, and then up-arrow, and the caret is still between the X and }. However, if I down-arrow, left- arrow, right-arrow (which is ignored), up-arrow, the caret is now before the X. I've checked the options "Editor | General | Caret part end of line" (checked), and "Codetools | General | Cursor beyond EOL" (checked), but they make no difference to the above. This is driving me nuts! Anyone know what I've switched on, and how to turn it off ? TIA ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2012-10-23 19:58 Can you set the caret past EOL using the mouse? What you describe sounds like a bug. There is only one setting "Allow caret past EOL". If you can go from the long line, then it should be on. Please rebuild your lazarus using "clean all". Sometimes (very rare), if you just build, something goes wrong. If that does not help: - Test on a line with only a-z (no tabs, no anything else) - Attach your EditorOptions.xml, and a unit with which it has happened. (unless it happens on the plain a-z line too) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- murray · 2012-10-24 09:42 Thanks for the fast reply, Martin_fr. Armed with the knowledge that this isn't some option I've enabled, I've updated the svn, made sure everything's happy (all green ticks in TortoiseSVN), done a make clean all, and this problem's gone! You live and learn... Thanks again.
