MainMenu Bar/Component Palette has disappeared lazarus / 9-Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JD · 2012-08-02 20:37 Hi there everyone, Something wierd happened to my Lazarus installation. I was rebuilding the IDE after the IDE restarted, I mistakenly clicked the red CLOSE button on the Lazarus MainMenu Bar/Component Palette and now the bar has disappeared. Whenever I start Lazarus, all I see on the screen is the Object Inspector, Source Editor and Form, Messages and Code Explorer windows. I can't open/close anything. The IDE is completely unusable. Since I have no access to the MenuBar, I cannot go to the 'View' menu to see if I can get the MainMenu back. Lazarus is no longer even visible in the Windows taskbar at the bottom of my screen!! Wierd! What can I do to recover my MainMenu? Thanks, JD Using: Lazarus 1.1/FPC 2.6.1 on Win32 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- wp · 2012-08-02 21:19 Temporarily rename your lazarus profile folder to see if this fixes your issue? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JD · 2012-08-02 21:43 Quote from: wp on August 02, 2012, 11:19:18 pmTemporarily rename your lazarus profile folder to see if this fixes your issue? I did that and it looked like a fresh installation of Lazarus without my components, macros and customizations.  Isn't there a setting in environmentoptions.xml that I can change to get back my IDE? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- wp · 2012-08-02 22:29 Maybe you could run a diff of this file against the one in the old folder. For example there are sections "MainIDE" and "SourceNotebook" which might be candidates. Are they different? If they are, copy these section(s) from the new file to the old one, and rename the profile folder back (of course make a backup of your original environmentoptions.xml). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2012-08-02 23:14 There are 2 (at least) possibilities: 1) the environmentoptions contains some setting for the MainIDE(Bar) Code: [Select]...     ...                                                     Maybe visible=False? Then just fix that. Also check coordinates. 2) Some other setting was added, that causes a crash, while starting up. Though that would probably lead to other errors... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JD · 2012-08-03 10:07 I found that MainIDE in a file called GlassDockingRuntime.xml had its Window setting set to "Minimize". I just set it to "Normal" and the MainIDE came back. Thanks a lot for your suggestions. JD
