Can Component Tabs be moved in the IDE? lazarus / 9-Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Knipfty · 2012-07-20 18:45 HI, I just downloaded and installed CodeTyphon.  I then installed the Advantage SQL components.  My trouble is that the Advantage tab is very far on the right, well out of sight.  I would like to move it next the data access tab. I've played around with the IDE, but do not see how to move the tab. Thanks Knipfty ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2012-07-20 19:36 Afaik they can't be moved. You can find where they are added in the code, and make changes and recompile ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Knipfty · 2012-07-20 19:55 any idea on where in the code?  I have never looked into Lazarus source code. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2012-07-20 20:46 I had a look. It is way more code to look at than I thought. sorry, no idea. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Leledumbo · 2012-07-20 22:21 It depends on the registration unit (the one which registers the components) order in staticpackages.inc (in your lazarus configuration directory). Deeper, it depends on the order of which RegisterComponents method is called. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gato2707 · 2012-07-21 03:46 Sugestion: Right click on components palete and select "View All" option (the only one) It presents a new Window with all components. It behavior is similar to Delphi 2006+ I think it's more confortable for regular use than LCL palete. Saludos desde México. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TheBlackSheep · 2012-07-21 07:14 Interestingly this "View All" component window can be docked when using the glass-docking feature of CodeTyphon.  A couple of  issues but not major; it doesn't keep it's tree state (expanded or collapsed) - seems to default to expanded but probably would be better collapsed (and/or do similar to what Delphi does here and allow it to auto-collapse old branches when you open a new branch) when you have the windows all docked in a sort of >= D2005 view and select any of the docked windows you lose the form designer behind the main window - probably not a big issue if you have a big (or multi) screen setup but on a relatively small (laptop) screen where you tend to maximize Lazarus the form designer is constantly hidden you tend to need to spend more time on F11/F12 operations to ensure changes in the Object Inspector are reflected on the form. If we could merge this glass-docking and Raphaelz' Merged Form Designer (which doesn't work on Laz 1.1) then we'd have the best of both worlds.  I've attached a screenshot of my maximized current screen with this dialog merged into the bottom right hand corner. TheBlackSheep ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Knipfty · 2012-07-21 12:30 That's certainly is better than scrolling all the way to the right.  I really appreciate all this help. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- avra · 2012-07-23 07:34 Quote from: TheBlackSheep on July 21, 2012, 09:14:51 amI've attached a screenshot of my maximized current screen with this dialog merged into the bottom right hand corner.I see that you also like blue background in code editor. Thanks Knipfty   I am a little late coming in but I just  installed CodeTyphon today.  There is also a blue down arrow on the right side of the tabs that will shortcut you the the tabs you need.  I too was hoping that the tabs could be moved.  I would also like to move the Run and other icons around in the icon strip, but that doesn't seem possible either.  That what you get for being a freeloading beggar. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Knipfty · 2012-08-13 00:50 Hi Lazarus9, Based on the responses I've gotten and reading "Lazarus - The Complete Guide"  (excellent read by the way), there is no good way of arranging the tabs at this time.  They are in the order they are in for the time being. I played with CodeTyphon but have not really used it yet.  I may look at it again when I get my first project done. Knipfty
