Problem pasting in Property Editor? lazarus / 9-Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Avishai · 2012-07-16 15:22 Is anyone else having problems pasting in the Property Editor?  When I try to paste, the text goes the the Code Editor instead.  It wasn't this way until recently.  Also, Identifier Policy keeps getting set to 'LowerCase, First Letter Up' in Tools/Options/CodeTools/Words.  I have to reset it about 2 or 3 times a day. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Bart · 2012-07-17 06:22 I noticed that some time ago, did a svn up, rebuild and the problem was gone. So it seems to have been fixed in the meantime. Bart ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Avishai · 2012-07-17 10:06 Bart, which revision?  I'm at #37949.  I just tried to update and several files are in conflict.  That will be fixed soon I'm sure.  I had to do a complete un-install and re-install not long ago and things haven't been 'right' since then. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BigChimp · 2012-07-17 10:32 Newer Lazarus x64 revisions have also been problematic for me (using FPCUP). Newer Lazarus x86 both on FPC 2.6.1 and trunk seem ok. If you have file conflicts, you might try an svn revert . --recursive from within your Lazarus root directory in order to get rid of local patches/modifications (after backup), do a del *.a /s, del *.ppu /s and del *.o/s (on Windows) in the Lazarus dir followed by an svn up make clean apparently doesn't clean out everything. NB: deleting .a and .o might be a bit dangerous, but the svn update should redownload any .a or .o files that are missing ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Avishai · 2012-07-17 14:04 Wonderful.  I've spent almost the whole day trying to 'Fix' Lazarus only to end up further back than where I was.  Version 37432   If I try to do an SVN Update, I get errors and can't recompile Lazarus and have to start all over again.  Not happy.  Not happy at all. Uninstall - Delete Lazarus Directory - Reinstall from different versions = Works. SVN Update = Broken. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2012-07-17 14:33 What errors do you get? * SVN conflicts? - You should only get them, if you modified files yourself. Then you must solve them yourself. - Very occasionally a makefile or po file may conflict (as it was modified, when the IDE was rebuild). If so: "revert" (looses any changes you may have made yourself) * Compile errors? Which fpc do you use. - You should use 2.6.0 - If you use 2.6.1 or 2.7.1 you should expect errors. If you get them it usually means you must update fpc also, but it may also be, that fpc has changed and lazarus not yet caught up. Additionally: if you get compile errors: make sure you do a clean build. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Avishai · 2012-07-17 14:45 Thank you Martin_fr.  I don't remember the exact Error but it was something about a file did not decompress or something like that.  I'm not going to try it again just to find out and have to go through the Uninstall/Reinstall routine again.  At least not today.  I'm too tired.  And of course I still have the paste problem and maybe still have the problem with Identifier Policy.  I'll have to wait and see.  But at least Lazarus is usable again. I used FPC 2.6.1 for a long time and did not see any problems, but I will drop back to 2.6.0 tomorrow. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2012-07-17 15:04 Quote from: Avishai on July 17, 2012, 04:45:24 pm I don't remember the exact Error but it was something about a file did not decompress or something like that.  Are you using SVN? If so, and the error occurred during the update (the update stopped at this error), then you must update again. Usually it will get past the problem then. (If not delete the file or even folder, and keep updating, until it succeeds (update restores deleted files) If it is a snapshot, and it happened during installation, then the downloaded file is corrupt ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Avishai · 2012-07-17 15:10 I'm using TortoiseSVN.  Once I do an Update, it won't do it again.  I'm sure there must be a way around this but I'm just too frustrated right now to do anything that might start the process all over again.  I need some 'cool down' time ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Avishai · 2012-07-17 16:01 OK!    I used 'Daily Snapshots Zip file' and got back up to Version 37960!  Hooray! And the pasting problems is GONE!  Happy now ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BigChimp · 2012-07-17 21:14 Quote from: Avishai on July 17, 2012, 05:10:53 pmI'm using TortoiseSVN.  Once I do an Update, it won't do it again.  I'm sure there must be a way around this but I'm just too frustrated right now to do anything that might start the process all over again.  I need some 'cool down' time *cough* fpcup *cough* The error you described and Martin's response indicate a problem while downloading/decompress with svn up. Another svn up would try again to download/decompress. Sometimes you'll get an error that the repository is locked. You can then do an svn unlock . fpcup has this error recovery capability built in - you could try it with out of the box settings if you have no c:\development directory. If you do, you will need to adjust some directory settings (--lazdir, --fpcdir, --bootstrapdir, --binutilsdir, something like that).
