How to change the aspect of the editor cursor? lazarus / 9-Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Elmug · 2011-08-03 15:47 I sometimes can't readily find the cursor. I looked into the Environment options of the Editor and did not seem to find a way. I would like for it to be a little more apparent, color, or shape, if that were possible. Thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- typo · 2011-08-03 16:25 If you press the Insert key, the cursor changes to a block. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Elmug · 2011-08-03 16:29 Quote from: typo on August 03, 2011, 06:25:21 pmIf you press the Insert key, the cursor changes to a block. Thank you Typo, but then I am in the overwrite mode, which I seldom use, don't I? I changed the Windows XP cursor, but it does not seem to affect the Editor's cursor, only the applications. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- typo · 2011-08-03 16:38 Quotebut then I am in the overwrite mode Yes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Blaazen · 2011-08-03 16:47 There are some cursor related checkboxes in Tools -> Options ... -> (on the left side) Editor -> General but changing them seems do nothing here on GTK2. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2011-08-03 18:13 On windows you can't change the color of the cursor (unless you draw it yourself, instead of by system) In either case, the IDE does not offer oany options towards the cursor. but you can change it, and recompile. In Synedit line 1735 (in svn version), its in TSynEdit.Create, you find:   fInsertCaret := ctVerticalLine;   fOverwriteCaret := ctBlock; You can set them as follows: ctVerticalLine, ctHorizontalLine, ctHalfBlock, ctBlock You can also redefine the shape for each of them in   unit SynEditPointClasses;   procedure TSynEditScreenCaret.UpdateDisplayType; ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Elmug · 2011-08-04 01:29 Thank you all. About the same results as you mention. In XP, the cursor can get fatter, and it shows in the IDE when editing text fields, but no, no effect on the editor. Also the blinking rate can be changed, which is not necessarily what I was after. All's ok, though.
