Saving a Text File without saving a project. lazarus / 9-Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- charlesappel · 2011-03-28 01:11 I decided I would like to make some notes about the Lazarus IDE. I created a new text file and began work in it. When I try to save it, the IDE wants to save the entire (empty) project. Is there a way to just open a text file, edit it and save it without saving a project along with it? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- typo · 2011-03-28 01:20 Probably you try to save a text file outside any project. For that, use a text editor. You can save a text file as part of a project. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Leledumbo · 2011-03-29 01:57 QuoteIs there a way to just open a text file, edit it and save it without saving a project along with it?Without any open (and saved) project, AFAIK no. Remember that each project also means IDE sessions, so it's not possible to use it as standalone text editor. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Bart · 2011-03-29 09:23 Press Ctrl-S, this will save the current editor file. Then close Lazarus, discarding all changes to the project. But, why do you need this? Bart ---------------------------------------------------------------------- charlesappel · 2011-03-29 20:11 Hi Bart. Its a matter of convenience. I'm making notes on the menu system for a tutorial I'm working on. I figured that working on a tutorial would help me learn the system and maybe it would help others as well. I've used Pascal for 28 years and Object Pascal starting with Delphi 1 - but the Lazarus IDE has enough differences that I need to do some studying. I've got the IDE up and running anyway, so I thought using the Lazarus editor would make the job easier. Thanks for all the responses. I appreciate it.
