Lazarus Editor Stand Alone lazarus / 9-Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bwinfrey · 2010-08-11 14:44 Can I easily compile a stand alone editor only version of lazarus? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2010-08-11 17:12 Depends what your exact needs are. The main component of the editor is SynEdit (MPL or GPL at your choice), which can be found in the component palette. You can always drop that on a form, also all the highlighters are there (highlighters also include code fold ability). But that is like dropping a TMemo on a form. There are no menus for loading saving, no option dialog, just a field that accepts key board input. As for the keyboard shortcut: - some of them are part of SynEdit itself, and will work (like navigation, copy, paste) - others are implemented in the IDE (sourceditor.pp and main.pp / both GPL) All the rest, like menus, save dialog, print, options, search dialog => you need to add yourself (if you go GPL, you may find some of it in the IDE directory). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bwinfrey · 2010-08-11 22:45 Thanks, I have used synedit and appreciate it and your comment, but I am thinking more along the lines of lazarus without design-time component related stuff.  I still want all the coding bells and whistles, but sometimes I don't need the form design tools.  I am looking for a way to strip down lazarus.  Like you could with Delphi using multiple registry hives.  Kind of like running a version with almost no packages. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2010-08-12 00:52 http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Lazarus_for_education ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bwinfrey · 2010-08-12 14:28 Looks like that may be promising.  I'll look into it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bwinfrey · 2010-08-12 14:38 Unfortunately the education package is not useful for my needs. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bwinfrey · 2010-08-14 20:32 I keep thinking about adapting some of the Lazarus code to run in a different UI.  Kind of like Kate in KDE's apps.  Any thoughts? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bwinfrey · 2010-08-15 18:01 I was over thinking this problem.  I just made some changes with the window manager and Lazarus preferences to get what I was looking for.  Thanks for the suggestions.
