Using 2.4.0 with Lazarus?

I am probably missing something obvious, but how do I use the latest
FPC 2.4.0 with Lazarus (which comes with 2.2.4)?

For Linux Ubuntu, download Lazarus 0.9.29 and FPC 2.4.0 deb.tar files
from ftp.hu.freepascal.org. Lazarus is in directory /pub/lazarus and
FPC is in directory /pub/fpc/dist/2.4.0. For Linux Fedora and
(open)SuSe, Lazarus and FPC rpm packages are in directory
/pub/lazarus.
