Converting Delphi to Lazarus

The built in converter does not seem to convert my delphi projects. 
I've tried delphi 7 and delphi 2k7 projects. 

What do I need to do to convert a project manually?

Please also try the built in converter in latest SVN trunk version of
Lazarus.
It is better than the release version and it will soon improve more.
