How to create a link to a program on your desktop in windows and Linux? lazarus / 9-Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Fortuna1 · 2008-12-26 09:55 How to create a link to a program on your desktop in windows and Linux in Lazarus? The best regards from Slovenija. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Phil · 2008-12-26 21:08 That's a good question. In Windows, the application's installer typically creates a desktop shortcut (link) to the application's executable. You can also create a shortcut manually in Windows. But I assume you mean how to create a shortcut programmatically. If this capability is not included in the LCL, you'll probably need to use Win API functions to do that. Creating a shortcut actually creates a .lnk file (for example,  in the C:\Documents and Settings\\Desktop folder). With OS X, it's similar, although links are called aliases (different from symbolic links). I don't use Linux, so can't help you any there. Thanks. -Phil ---------------------------------------------------------------------- satyro · 2009-01-03 09:54 in linux you can create a simbolik link of the program and place it in \home\\Desktop
