The best regards form Slovenia. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Zaher · 2008-11-04 16:02 check this ...\lazarus\components\lazreport\source\barcode.pas ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marclebrun · 2009-02-13 16:08 Does this allow to make DATAMATRIX barcodes ? Or do you know any other way I can find the algorythm to convert strings to datamatrix ? Thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marclebrun · 2009-07-20 07:42 Thanks for your reply. I tried to find a source file containing the word 'datamatrix' but none found. Instead I found '2_5_matrix' in barcode.pas, is that the same as datamatrix ??? The code does not seem very long, knowing the complexity of the datamatrix algorithm... I found it in Python that I converted to Lazarus and it works fine for datamatrix up to 50 characters or so, but longer strings give a 'data too big' error... anyway it's very useful ! If someone's interested I can post or send the code. Have a nice day  Marc. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Zaher · 2009-07-20 10:10 Please post the code, maybe it solve problem to someone in the feature. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marclebrun · 2009-07-23 14:15 Here's the code. There's a short example at the end. I don't have time to explain further for the moment, but don't hesitate to ask  (see attached file) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- User137 · 2013-04-08 10:09 Did you check the program marclebrun attached? I checked that there is barcode.pas in Lazarus, just add the path in project options Other unit files (...\lazarus\components\lazreport\source\barcode.pas as Zaher said). There is class TBarcode. Fill the data with its methods, and then use procedure DrawBarcode(Canvas: TCanvas); ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jwdietrich · 2013-04-08 12:22 Quote from: User137 on April 08, 2013, 12:09:08 pmI checked that there is barcode.pas in Lazarus, just add the path in project options Other unit files (...\lazarus\components\lazreport\source\barcode.pas as Zaher said). There is class TBarcode. Fill the data with its methods, and then use procedure DrawBarcode(Canvas: TCanvas); The licensing status of this chunk of sourcecode is questionable. Its authors write that it is "for private use only" (whatever they deem to be private use), and in the German paragraph in lines 28 to 31 they repeat the same clause and that changed files may not be passed to third parties. Therefore it is a bit doubtful if it is legal to use the code for projects other than personal playing around with it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- User137 · 2013-04-08 12:39 Copyright 1999 is expired? And he says it's freeware. Quotethis component is for private use only ! i'am not responsible for wrong barcodesI would interpret that as "you take responsibility for possible errors, not the author". Is there more to it than that? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BigChimp · 2013-04-08 12:49 Quote from: User137 on April 08, 2013, 02:39:42 pmCopyright 1999 is expired? Quite probably not expired: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright#Copyright_term Depends on whether the author is alive/when he died/what jurisdiction he's in & you are in etc. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BigChimp · 2013-04-08 12:50 This Quotethis component is for private use only !seems to limit use to non-commercial use (i.e. you cannot use it in products/code you make money out of). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jwdietrich · 2013-04-08 14:00 Unfortunately, the author's web page at tripod.de is no longer available. Fortunately, however, I found a newer version of the barcode unit in a thread of a German Delphi forum (version 1.25 from 2003 compared to version 1.5 from 1999). Apart from bug fixes it contains support for numerous additional barcode types. What is even better, it is now freeware with no additional restrictions (as long as the files are unmodified). Attached please find the updated version.
