how can i display and input tradition chinese word in IDE lazarus / 9-Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- wooss · 2007-06-10 13:09 HI,ALL In English Mode, every thing looks OK, but in chinese environment, I can not display and input tradition chinese word. How can i do ? However, Winxp can display and input chinese word. My OS : Ubuntu 7.04 locale : LANG=zh_TW.UTF-8 Input method : gcin ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2007-06-10 18:57 Where can't you input chinese words? This should work on the Object Inspector, but should fail on the Code Editor. This is a known limitation of the code editor. To overcode this you can use an external editor to add chinese characters. Another solution is of course to fix Lazarus's Code Editor =) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- wooss · 2007-06-11 07:11 First, Thank you for your answer. Not only fail on the Code Editer, but also fail on the Object Inspectos. I drop a label to the form, type chinese word in the caption, it will show the wrong word.   ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2007-06-11 12:08 But what you type on the Object Inspector appears correctly at the object inspector itself? (Not on the component it's controlling). Maybe this problem is specific to TLabel. Could you try other controls too, like TButton.Caption, TEdit.Text and TForm.Caption? Another thing to be tested is setting a OnCreate event handler for your form and then set the captions of components from code. Like: MyEdit.Text := 'My UTF-8 string'; You won't be able to write UTF-8 strings with the lazarus code editor, so you can use lazarus to set a OnCreate event handler for your Form (double click the OnCreate event on the Object inspector), save the project, close lazarus. Then use another editor, like gedit to edit the source code and add the lines that set the captions of controls with UTF-8 strings on that OnCreate handler. Save the file again, and open Lazarus again. Now rebuild the program and test it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2007-06-11 12:09 A Screenshot illustrating the problem would be nice too ---------------------------------------------------------------------- wooss · 2007-06-11 13:52 Error Screenshot     http://163.19.215.180/error.png ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2007-06-11 15:45 Please submit a bug report, and attach this screenshot as well as a test application there (there is a place there to upload files after you create a bug report). Then post there the output of the tests I suggested you (One is obviously done on the screenshot, but I suggested others too). Curious ... I wonder why this only happens for chinese ... my portuguese utf-8 characters work fine here. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2007-06-11 15:50 One relevant information mission on this screenshot is: How does the object inspector look when you have selected a component with chinese characters on it. (I would like to see the chinese text on the Object Inspector itself). Another possible test: Add the strings manually by code like I said on the other e-mail, and then rebuild your application for Gtk 2 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- wooss · 2007-06-12 13:30 Sorry, I can not find the bug report's position, so i upload the error page to my server. The first, when i save the file, the save dialog look error like this.  http://163.19.215.180/Unit1.png I set the Button.Caption. The Object Inspector's Caption look likes this. http://163.19.215.180/error2.png When i use another code editor to edit the Label1.caption, when i click the button will change the Label.caption to chinese word, but it still not work. It looks like this. http://163.19.215.180/error3.png ---------------------------------------------------------------------- antonio · 2007-06-12 17:37 Bugs reported on the forum will be forgotten. Use the bug tracker. Bug tracking link is on this page, at left, as a item under de title Code & Coding. Your images are too small too, I can't see them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2007-06-12 20:06 There are complete instructions about how to report bugs here: http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/How_do_I_create_a_bug_report There we provide space to attach images, as large as you want, as many as necessary (but please in png like your current ones). Attaching a test application to the bug tracker would also be great. I do not have a way to type chinese characters in my computer, so this would help a lot solving the bug. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- antonio · 2007-06-13 00:03 Now I can see the images.
