Shift+Numpad for selection? lazarus / 9-Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Wigg · 2005-11-30 03:23 I just found Lazarus today and am loving it so far. Really nice job. I do have one problem though. I can't seem to use shift+Numpad keys to select text, nor shift+insert to paste or ctrl+insert to copy. These do work fine with the "T" arrows and stand alone navigation keys but not the numpad (yes, numlock is off . I can use the others if there is no other way, but 15+ years of habit is hard to break. I'm using 0.9.10 on Fedora Core 4 and an MS Digital Media Pro keyboard. The shift+numpad keys select text in all other programs, just not Lazarus. -- Ron Davis ---------------------------------------------------------------------- matthijs · 2005-11-30 11:09 It seems to me this is standard behaviour of the keyboard driver. Try with numlock on to do shift+numpadkey. You will see it has the function of the key without numlock on. So using the shift key toggles the numlock function. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Wigg · 2005-11-30 13:23 There is an option in Gnome setup to enable shift+numpad to work "as in MS Windows". With that set, it works in every other program that I've tried except Lazarus. I've been using Delphi for commercial app development since it came out (1995?) but I've never dug too deep in to the internals. This is probably a good excuse to download the Lazarus source and see if I can follow it enough to be of any use. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Marc · 2005-12-01 11:15 IIRC shift numpad worked when I implemented it. I need to check ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Wigg · 2005-12-01 13:54 I did some "ShowMessage" debugging and the shift-numpad keys register as if shift were not held down (ssShift not set). They registered identically when shift was up or down. I tried digging deeper but couldn't immediately find the lower level functions and got sidetracked looking through the mouse wheel code. Edit: Testing was in TCustomSynEdit.KeyDown.
