Lazarus 4.0 RC3 lazarus / 9-Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- paxnet_be · 2025-06-17 13:15 Hey guys, Window Project Options: trying to use another image as app icon than the default. Looks grayed. The cursor is on 0 (instead 1 with the default icon), I cannot move it to resize the image. Is this a bug in RC3? Can´t wait to see the definitive version 4.0 ! Kind regards, pax_be Lazarus 4.0 (rev lazarus_4_0RC3-55-g9d15c73c91) FPC 3.2.2 x86_64-linux-gtk2 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gues1 · 2025-06-17 13:23 The stable version of Lazarus 4.0 has been released since May 5th... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- paxnet_be · 2025-06-17 13:25 Are you sure? I downloaded this version from the website a few days ago... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Thaddy · 2025-06-17 13:29 Yes, we are sure. Probably wrong website. So WHICH website? If you navigate from here you will get the true release. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- paxnet_be · 2025-06-17 13:43 Downloaded from https://sourceforge.net/projects/lazarus/files/Lazarus %20Linux%20x86_64%20RPM/Lazarus%204.0/ Date of the binaries stays on 2025-05-04 and gives the mentioned version info. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2025-06-17 13:48 Quote from: paxnet_be on June 17, 2025, 03:15:16 pmLazarus 4.0 (rev lazarus_4_0RC3-55-g9d15c73c91) FPC 3.2.2 x86_64-linux-gtk2 that is strange... (g)9d15c73c91 => that is the revision of the final 4.0 release. Indeed, it seemed to be the same problem. So I applied your solution, but without success: my icon was not compressed. When I tried to compress it, Lazarus complained that it could not use it. By the way, I never had that problem, also with Lazarus 3.8 my icon was rendered fine... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Fred vS · 2025-06-17 15:48 Quote from: paxnet_be on June 17, 2025, 05:07:40 pmIndeed, it seemed to be the same problem. Did you convert your .ico to .png and use that .png as icon? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mattias · 2025-06-17 19:04 Quote from: paxnet_be on June 17, 2025, 03:43:25 pmDownloaded from htt ps://sourceforge.net/projects/lazarus/files/Lazarus%20Linux%20x86_64%2 0RPM/Lazarus%204.0/ Date of the binaries stays on 2025-05-04 and gives the mentioned version info. That's 4.0 (to be exact: 4.0.0.4), not 4.0RC3. I just double checked and installed it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- paxnet_be · 2025-06-18 09:52 QuoteThat's 4.0 (to be exact: 4.0.0.4), not 4.0RC3. I just double checked and installed it. So this morning I downloaded the whole package again from https://www.lazarus-ide.org/ - Other - Linux RPM 64 bits. To make sure I would install this version, I performed an uninstall of the Lazarus and FPC package + deleted the directory ".lazarus" from my home directory. Then I reinstalled Lazarus from the install dir with the OpenSuse Leap 15.6 command "zypper install *.RPM". This installed the binaries in the order fp-laz, fpc-src, lazarus project... Sorry Matthias, same result (see screenshot). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- paxnet_be · 2025-06-18 10:00 QuoteDid you convert your .ico to .png and use that .png as icon? No, I did the reversed handling. Tried with both the .png and .ico, same result. I think, the problem is that I cannot move the cursor to 1. However I can move it when I'm using the default icon. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dbannon · 2025-06-18 10:54 pax, just wondering, by changing that icon, what do you expect to change ? Linux uses the icon in, eg /usr/share/icons/hicolor/256x256/apps/$APPNAME.png and some times the one pointed to by your desktop file. I think something uses the embedded but unsure what it is. Generally, the above applies. (And, I note your new install of Lazarus rc3 now has yesterday's build date - what on earth is happening there ?) Indeed, it is used by the Linux desktop. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- paxnet_be · 2025-08-18 12:56 He guys, Today I installed version 4.2. This solved the Lazarus version problem, so thank you. However, the problem of the application icon still exists (see the first snapshot). Until version 4, I never had problem with this one, so I am wondering what is going wrong. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CM630 · 2025-08-18 19:48 This is a known bug: https://forum.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php?topic=71420.0
