[solved] Can I close pages without right click? lazarus / 9-Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Joanna · 2024-01-06 01:26 Is there some way to configure Lazarus ide to let me close pages by clicking an X like one would do for closing tabs or windows? I have a lot of pages open at once but only want to close some of them. Click with confirmation if it’s not saved would help a lot. I’m not using a mouse and right clicking is difficult sometimes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dsiders · 2024-01-06 01:59 Quote from: Joanna on January 06, 2024, 02:26:06 amIs there some way to configure Lazarus ide to let me close pages by clicking an X like one would do for closing tabs or windows? Look at the information in the editor key map: Tools > Options > Editor > Key Mappings. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Handoko · 2024-01-06 02:04 Ctrl+F4 is the default shortcut for closing the page. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- eljo · 2024-01-06 02:29 middle click on a tab should close it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Joanna · 2024-01-06 02:42 Thanks for the replies I guess control f4 works but I still have to get focus on the page using mouse so it takes as much effort as right click. I can’t middle click I’m using a trackpad on laptop I saw something called notebook tabs but the show close buttons in notebook option is disabled. I don’t know if that is relevant. Well I discovered that the two finger tap on trackpad opens the right click menu better I was doing differently before. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Josh · 2024-01-06 04:08 if using windows probably similar functionality in other OS's too you can customize the touchpad gesture/tap settings settings->devices->touchpad->three finger gestures. set the taps value to middle-mouse-button then you can navigate the pointer to the source tab in your ide window, then just tap the touchpad with 3 fingers, and 'Voila' tested works ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Tony Stone · 2024-01-06 04:30 Many touch pads will simulate a middle click with the tap of 3 fingers at once. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Joanna · 2024-01-06 10:47 Thanks , this is good to know. When you close a modified page with the 3 finger tap/middle button click does it give you any warning that you are about to close something unsaved or does it just close it? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Dzandaa · 2024-01-06 14:57 Hi Joanna, QuoteWhen you close a modified page with the 3 finger tap/middle button click does it give you any warning that you are about to close something unsaved or does it just close it? I think you have to manage that yourself in the OnClose event of the Form. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Joanna · 2024-01-06 22:23 Thanks for the replies I will see what I can do. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MarkMLl · 2024-01-06 22:31 Joanna, I've been holding my piece for the last couple of days but I'd point out that when I run the IDE I have a perfectly-functional "close page" cross on every tab. I'm running Qt on Debian Linux. I suspect you're not. But the bottom line is that this is widgetset-specific, and at least your earlier posts in the thread didn't make clear what you were running. MarkMLl ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Joanna · 2024-01-06 22:51 I’m using Lazarus 2.0.12 on windows 7 in parallels on a Mac computer ---------------------------------------------------------------------- YiannisKam · 2024-01-07 02:27 I usually focus on pages with Ctrl-Tab and close them with Ctrl-F4, if that helps. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Joanna · 2024-01-07 12:57 Oh ? I didn’t know about control tab. Thanks for the info
