Forum doesn't play nice with Dark Reader

The menu bar (Help, Search, Profile...) and buttons (ADD BOOKMARK,
NOTIFY...) are very difficult to see. Is there any other solution to
force a dark theme?

That's what happens when you override the default colors but do not
touch the images. The headers are imagesm.
Try to turn off brightness ( move the bar all the way to the left) 
and add a bit more contrast. It will make things easier to read.
If that is not very helpfull then you can use an add blocker to block
the header images from loading which might work but requires a bit of
work to tune what is blocked as to not block the header text or the
place holder (cell or what eve is used to contained the header text)
as well
