Lazarus 1.4 released When? lazarus / 8-Other ---------------------------------------------------------------------- x2nie · 2014-11-10 13:31 I've implement a component editor that is required Lazarus 1.3 I did dream it since Lazarus 1.2.0 was released, I assumed I will found in near future release (Lazarus 1.2.2), but I didn't meet that expected feature. Nowdays, Lazarus is 1.2.6 (three time release after 1.2.0) and I still waiting for such feature. One of my expectation was this feature: Code: [Select]TDesignerMediator = class(TComponent) public     procedure OiNodeGetImageIndex(APersistent: TPersistent; var AIndex: integer); override;  So, my question is: When that feature included in Lazarus release? You know, our custom component would be useless (couldn't published) until the requirement is available; and the requirement is the availability of updated codes in lazarus. Thanks you, sorry for my bad english. Regards, x2nie ---------------------------------------------------------------------- x2nie · 2014-11-10 13:47 Well, you know Lazarus 1.2.2 is fast following 1.2.0, so maybe I were wrong in which Lazarus version I start developing my component editor. But, in fact I did sent the patch for near future release, (not for far release) here is my ticket: http://bugs.freepascal.org/view.php?id=26234  bug:0026234 I think, the changes is only small part of lazarus IDE codes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BigChimp · 2014-11-10 14:07 The bug is marked as applied, and an svn revision is shown where it was applied (in this case 45216). It probably has been applied to Lazarus trunk, not the 1.2.x branch. The 1.2.x branch is only bugfixes against 1.2.0 You can see what revisions were applied here http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Lazarus_1.2_fixes_branch As for when  Lazarus 1.4 will be released? No idea. First you will see RC (release candidates) anyway where users are expected to test if they don't see any bugs. That will be announced on the forum. Thank you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2014-11-10 14:16 1.4 will not be this year. It has not even been branched yet. After branch RC will be build, and made avail. Each RC for a couple of weeks. So 1.4 will probably be spring 2015. You can ask on the mail list, if the revision can be merged to 1.2 (and then be in 1.2.. But as indicated 1.2 is mainly bugfixes. So not sure, what the chances are. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JuhaManninen · 2014-11-10 14:24 I guess Lazarus 1.4 comes at spring 2015. It means the release branch must be forked relatively soon, within 2 months maybe. RC1 comes soon after forking. Nobody knows this for sure because it is not decided yet. Yet you don't need to wait for it. You can use Lazarus trunk. It is very good, no crashes, no regressions that I know of. I use it all the time without problems. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Leledumbo · 2014-11-11 01:00 In general AFAIK, patch release will consist of only bigfixes. You need at least minor release to have new features included. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- x2nie · 2014-11-12 04:10 Quote from: Leledumbo on November 11, 2014, 02:00:12 amIn general AFAIK, patch release will consist of only bigfixes. I feel better if I talk in mother language, so for Leledumbo: Maksudnya gimana, gan? saya bingung soal patch, release, bigfixes, minor release... Apakah new fitur saya tak akan pernah ada di Lazarus 1.2.x ya? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Leledumbo · 2014-11-12 04:29 Quote from: x2nie on November 12, 2014, 05:10:49 amQuote from: Leledumbo on November 11, 2014, 02:00:12 amIn general AFAIK, patch release will consist of only bigfixes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- x2nie · 2014-11-12 04:55 Thanks you all ! I think it is clear now, that any new feature will be in next release (1.4) not in current bugfixes release (1.2.x). My work (that requires Lazarus 1.3) will show icons in Lazarus's component-tree of this demo: C:\lazarus\examples\designnonlcl. So my work is only a bugfixe of visual / appearance feature. But we can also say that it is new feature. Quote from: JuhaManninen on November 10, 2014, 03:24:23 pmI guess Lazarus 1.4 comes at spring 2015. .... Yet you don't need to wait for it. But user can't use my work when they are using Lazarus 1.2.6 (newest release). I will use the available time (until Lazarus 1.4 been released) for play around with my components, add more new feature (if required), and no worry about it. Thanks you everybody. I will mark this post as solved soon.
