Why are you positing this stuff, if your disclaimer above is accurate?  You are beginning to look like a troll. I really don't understand your objection, or your suspicion. Yes, the disclaimer in my signature is accurate. I am a newbie at Object Pascal (although not at Pascal, which I learned many years ago), and a hobby programmer. I am getting seriously interested in Object Pascal and I intend to write applications in Lazarus. And I would like to acquire some background info about Object Pascal and its community. I see nothing wrong with that, nothing remotely suspicious. Now, why should I be looking like a troll?!? Only because I am asking questions? I really don't get it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- eny · 2013-11-30 19:14 a) earth; yes. b) 23deg; white coffee nearby. c) many. d) master. e) dutch; english; german; french. f) Compilable programs. >>  Please give details. I actually like to have its syntax resembles Oberon (in case- insensitive form, of course), but backward compatibility is something that we cannot ignore. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- vicot · 2013-12-01 07:59 a) where do you live? is Object Pascal popular there? If you don't want to use this tool, use what you want. I used a dozen languages, now use this, the best. Write a good application and you will have a job! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- hinst · 2013-12-02 12:19 If you think about it, FPC really has some advantages. I think that it wouldn't be too far from truth if I stated that Object Pascal is #2 native general-purpose language (with C++ on the first place; .NET, JVM and interpreters aside). What other native general-purpose languages are there? Vala, D, assembler, Haskell, Google Go... These are pretty obscure I think.  FPC has large code base, extensive standardized cross-platform library and it is easy to use. FPC libraries are usable while most C++ 3rd party libraries are incredibly hard to use because of low quality (they just won't compile) and other sh*t ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marcov · 2013-12-02 13:04 Quote from: hinst on December 02, 2013, 01:19:28 pmIf you think about it, FPC really has some advantages. Plain C and VB(-classic).  VB classic is one of those other languages declared dead, but with a enormous installed base. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CaptBill · 2013-12-02 21:28 Quote from: exdatis on December 02, 2013, 12:16:53 pmWhat are these questions?
