hand held devices for courier services. lazarus / 8-Other ---------------------------------------------------------------------- taazz · 2012-12-19 20:26 Hi every one, Since some of our members use and build embedded device I thought to ask if any one can give me a push to the correct direction. Recently I had a request to build a courier application for a small provider and I'm looking for the following 1) a hand held barcode reader which can use a gsm or a 3g network to report live when a delivery has been made it doesn't have to be real time near time is acceptable as well (5 or 10 minutes delay) 2) a gps navigator which can be programed with a number of stops and can be updated out side the office again gsm or 3g network or any other option would work as well. The idea behind this is to be able to automate any route planing and changes that might arise in the day when every vehicle is already on the road and of course a faster tracking of the work load. also I'm interesting on any collaboration automation, work flow etc that I can study to better understand the work load it will require for me to implement this software. Thank you in advance for any info on the subject. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- avra · 2012-12-31 00:35 On my previous job I have used Symbol/Motorola Windows Mobile devices for similar purposes. They were expensive but rugged. There are devices with barcode or RFID reader, GPRS and GPS. For exact models and prices contact your local representative. http://www.motorola.com/Business/US- EN/Business+Product+and+Services/Mobile+Computers/Handheld+Computers ---------------------------------------------------------------------- taazz · 2013-01-16 09:43 Oh wow I didn't expect to get any answer so I actually lost track of this post, sorry for the delay and thank you very much for the link much appreciated.
