Samples in Lazarus/FPC source and wiki lazarus / 8-Other ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BigChimp · 2011-08-30 10:37 I've been tinkering with some database tutorials on the wiki and thought how nice it would be if the examples in the source code, as well as the tutorials on the wiki would be... aligned or matched. By that I mean that there could be one theme/architecture that the examples build on. Take Sekelsenmat's http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/fpChess: we could have a DBF database (with example) that store chess games, Tatamata's CSV db with the same, an XML import/export format, we could use web services to play chess over the internet, demonstrate use of configuration, etc. Just like Microsoft SQL Server has AdventureWorks, Firebird has employee.fdb, Delphi has the fish catalogue, etc... Of course, that would require effort by example/tutorial writers, and I doubt it will happen, but it would be very cool to have (the building blocks for) a great chess environment (or CRM tool, or whatever) ! (And I don't even like to play chess  ) What do you think?
