Installing FPC 2.3.1 on Linux lazarus / 8-Other ---------------------------------------------------------------------- anta40 · 2009-01-02 01:16 I'm using Slackware 12.1, and I still can't install FPC 2.3.1 (development snapshot) properly. Previously, no FPC installed. After I downloaded & extracted to the appropriate directories, ran "fpcmkcfg" and made a simple program: Code: [Select]program test; begin    writeln('aaaa'); end; Tried to compile it: QuoteError: ppc386 can't be executed, error message: Failed to execute "ppc386", error code: 127 After some searching, ppc386 was found on /lib/fpc/2.3.1, so I copied it to /bin, then tried to compile again: QuoteFatal: Can't find unit system used by Program Fatal: Compilation aborted Error: /bin/ppc386 returned an error exitcode (normal if you did not specify a source file to be compiled) What's wrong? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Marc · 2009-01-02 01:32 If you downloaded fpc binaries, there should be some install.sh script. If you build form source, use Code: [Select]make install FPC_VERSION=2.3.1 to install. Don't copy the exe, just make a symlink /bin/ppc386 -> /lib/fpc/2.3.1/ppc386 BTW, usually fpc is installed in /usr/lib or /usr/local/lib. further check if a /etc/fpc.cfg does exist. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- anta40 · 2009-01-02 05:54 install.sh only exist in the official 2.2 release (thus, no such thing in 2.3.1) Quote from: Marc on January 02, 2009, 02:32:16 amDon't copy the exe, just make a symlink /bin/ppc386 -> /lib/fpc/2.3.1/ppc386 How do I do that? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Sternas Stefanos · 2009-01-02 08:49 Try CodeTyphon http://www.pilotlogic.com/ I don't tested on Slackware 12.1 but I think it must be working.. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Marc · 2009-01-02 13:07 Quote from: anta40 on January 02, 2009, 06:54:18 aminstall.sh only exist in the official 2.2 release (thus, no such thing in 2.3.1) Quote from: Marc on January 02, 2009, 02:32:16 amDon't copy the exe, just make a symlink /bin/ppc386 -> /lib/fpc/2.3.1/ppc386 How do I do that?  in a command prompt (in /bin):Code: [Select]ln -s ../lib/fpc/2.3.1/ppc386 see man ln for more info
