Error: unit not found: StdCtrls

Hi everybody,
I am a student of Computer Science at the University of technology in
Eindhoven, the Netherlands. During my first experience creating a GUI
I had problems with lazarus. I can create a form, but when I want to
add an event to the form (for instance an On Create-event), lazarus
gives me this error: "Error: unit not found: StdCtrls". To me this
seems very weird because the file stdctrls.pp exists in the file
D:\lazarus\lcl. Some assistants looked at it, and until now they have
been unable to trace the error. Maybe you know how to fix this pretty
annoying error.  Thanks!

How did you install lazarus? What OS is it? (Vista or.. ?)

Yes, it's Vista.
