IDE Open dialogs should not show hidden files lazarus / 8-Other ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dodi · 2008-11-15 11:57 The open project dialog shows hidden files and directories, starting with "." on Linux systems. This is a bad idea, when the home directory is filled with such hidden directories from other applications. At least the default view should exclude hidden directories from file open/save dialogs. DoDi This is an issue that seems to plague Unix-type systems. Windows has hidden files but doesn't use them the way they're used on Linux (and even on OS X) to hide "." configuration files and folders. On OS X, Lazarus does not show hidden files in its dialogs. Probably what you suggest is a good idea, either an option to enable/disable this behavior. Another approach is a separate menu command - for example, the Mac TextWrangler text editor has a File | Open Hidden command for just this purpose. Perhaps you could log this as a bug in Mantis. Thanks. -Phil
