threading on win32 lazarus / 8-Other ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Zorba · 2006-09-20 05:56 The synchronize function seems to cause an exception. This after the thread has been created and running. This happens on win32 but not on Linux. Program compiles cleanly for both systems, but just freezes on windows and runs fine on Linux. Any known problems? Lazarus 0.9.16 and FPC 2.0.2 Program compiled for win32 from Linux(cross-copile) and Windows yield same result. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- beli0135 · 2006-09-20 11:37 Yes, threads are not working properly. Locks linux most of the time, but works better on Win. Unstable - the least that can be said ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Zorba · 2006-09-20 13:44 Quote from: "beli0135"Yes, threads are not working properly. Locks linux most of the time, but works better on Win. Unstable - the least that can be said Well this program runs fine on Linux. It doesn't run on windows (Actually it just freezes) right on synchronize(@ShowStatus). Now with very little modification to the program like: Synchronize(ShowStatus); Delphi compiles it, and it runs fine, without problem. Perhaps the new FPC might solve it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2006-09-22 10:54 I can only say, that threading should work and AFAIK it does on windows (no open bug reports). If you have a compilable example in which it doesn't work, then you can submit a bug report. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Zorba · 2006-09-23 21:30 I do have an app that compiles fine, but to file a bug, I'm not sure about that untill I get a confirmation, preferably from someone who knows what they're doing so as not to make a mistake and see if there is really such a bug. I just started coding somewhat recently, so you can understand my hesitation. Any volenteers? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Zorba · 2006-09-24 03:17 OK I just rechecked the code and compiled it again cleanly but it freezes on win32. How do I go about filing a bug? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2006-09-24 09:04 There is a link to the bug tracker in the left menu. For instructions see How do I create a bug report in the wiki. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Zorba · 2006-09-24 16:24 Filed Thank you. While on the subject, Memo1 (a TMemo) component on win32 doesn't Clear. For example: Code: [Select]procedure TForm1.FormCreate(Sender: TObject); begin Memo1.Clear; end; doesn't work. It works manually to clear it from Object Inspector. Not a big deal unless it doesn't work later on in program, but couldn't get there because program freezes before I find out........ This works fine on Linux. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Onjahyr-BR · 2006-09-24 17:36 Code: [Select] procedure TForm1.FormCreate(Sender: TObject); begin    Memo1.Lines.Clear; end; ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Zorba · 2006-09-25 00:53 QuoteCode: [Select]procedure TForm1.FormCreate(Sender: TObject); begin    Memo1.Lines.Clear; end; Will try this but on Linux this works: Code: [Select] procedure TForm1.FormCreate(Sender: TObject); begin    Memo1.Clear; end; But thanks for the tip. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2006-09-25 06:16 Please, submit a bug report for the memo clear issue.
