Linux is 3 days behind windows in daily builds lazarus / 8-Other ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JimBodkins · 2006-09-12 04:36 ... is that due to inactivity? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CCRDude · 2006-09-12 07:40 Three days! Three full days! The world is sinking, heavens are falling upon our heads! First rumors are spreading that Lazarus is inactive and dead! Quick, run and get Turbo Delphi, because all your Lazarus installations will destroy themselves within the next 24 hours! Sorry, couldn't resist ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JimBodkins · 2006-09-12 08:17 I am at the start of a coversion of what is at the moment about 1/2 million lines of C code developed over about 12 years. (Hotel property management and reservation system) I need to install attrstringgrid (or something like it) to do this right. Problem is, it will install in lazarus for windows but not for linux - same versions. (Which is why I was asking the question. It appears that at the moment the two platforms are out of sync) I really need to try to see if the latest svn does any better than 0909. I doubt it does. I think it is broken - which is to be expected for beta software. (It is good ... just broken at the moment). I have UI's built using glade and can proceed with Anjuta. Given the opportunity, I would rather use lazarus. I have completed an interface to Unify that is working - mostly. But I have to decide, there is a great deal to do and I - sadly - dont have much time. Lazarus will mature - my issue is at what point will I be able to use it. The developers shouldnt read anything into any of this. It is probably just bad timing - and that assumes it doesnt work out. I think it may. What I am trying to avoid at this moment is not producing cobbled code. Six months from now, I am certain I wouldnt have this problem. As I said, I think it may  just be 'bad' timing. I certainly dont expect nor would I recommend the developers do anything differently. They need to do the right thing for their code. I'll figure something out. Thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CCRDude · 2006-09-12 08:34 Well, I experienced a few delays in "daily" builds as well, also when I thought I needed them instantly. You can always get the SVN directly instead of through a daily Just install subversion and give it a try (though I would guess the reason that there are no dailies could be that subversion is currently broken). I did so myself when I had trouble with compiling for Windows CE. I suggest you try this out in a different folder than the main one though (contrary to Delphi, you can have multiple copies of Lazarus on your harddisk ). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2006-09-12 10:35 Quote from: "JimBodkins"... is that due to inactivity? Thanks for question the question. After having several days of succesfull nightly build, I stopped checking each day.   I took a quick glance at the build log and it seems to be caused by an error in the build script after the additional of the command line builder called "lazbuild". Tonight I will try to fix the script and hopefully tomorrow there will be a new build. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2006-09-12 10:46 I think I fixed the error in the build process in revision 9864. This evening I will test it, when I start the build script at home. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RudieD · 2006-09-18 11:04 Thanks Vincent !
