Does anyone have an example of how to use this? I just get the
inevitable SIGSEGV error if I try to read or write anything.

Drop it on form and set filename (without path it will be in program
directory but I'm not sure) like : session.xml
Next open editor window for property SessionProperties of Form.
Add here properties of form and controls  to be stored inside
session.xml.
Rebuild.
Your application now will read selected property value from
session.xml and apply it.(like Width,Height,Left,Top for TForm)
