How to go about the wiki editors lazarus / 8-Other ---------------------------------------------------------------------- matthijs · 2005-12-12 07:28 This morning I went to the Wiki and saw the main page completly gone and replaced by links to stuff we don't really need. (Blue pills and such). Seemed that just an hour and half before somebody changed it. I know it gives extra work for the "crew" but I think I might be a good idea to have the editors approved before they can make any changes, so things like this don't happen anymore. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2005-12-12 12:04 I don´t think it is a good thing to have editors approved, this can a problem for new editors. Perhaps we can block the Main Page. This is what wikipedia does, and it works very well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2005-12-12 12:47 I blocked the main page. But I don't think it is very usefull. In the last couple of days 10-20 spam messages were entered and only one affected the main page. I see more in a solution like: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/SpamBlacklist_extension ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2005-12-12 14:39 Sounds a very good solution to me. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- matthijs · 2005-12-12 15:21 I didnot know about that possibility. It sounds good to me, but will this also work if they replace the URL with a link made via tinyurl? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2005-12-12 15:57 Of course, if they want to do so, I just block tinyurl\.com. IMHO tinyur's should not be used in a wiki, as it only adds an extra indirection.
