SVN checkout problem lazarus / 8-Other ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Funky Beast · 2005-10-01 04:33 Hi all, I'm trying to checkout FPC and Lazarus through SVN, but everytime it complains with the following: [funkybeast@FunkyNote src]$svn checkout http://svn.freepascal.org/svn/lazarus/trunk lazarus svn: REPORT request failed on '/svn/lazarus/!svn/vcc/default' svn: REPORT of '/svn/lazarus/!svn/vcc/default': Could not read status line: Connection timed out (http://svn.freepascal.org) I'm new to SVN, so i thought it might be something wrong with my svn installation. So, i try a test download with other sites with the following: [funkybeast@FunkyNote src]$svn co svn://svn.gna.org/svn/gtkpacman/trunk gtkpacman And gtkpacman checked out fine. The only difference i see above is one is using http url, and the other one is using an svn url. Is there anything i need to configure or install to check out from a http url with svn? Appreciate for any advice.  I'm trying to migrate my Kylix database GUI apps to FPC/Lazarus. Thanks in Advance. Funky Beast ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2005-10-01 10:36 Are you behind a firewall or proxy server. Some proxy server don't implement the http protocol complete and don't send all the requests you made to the svn server. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2005-10-01 12:06 Thanks for the respond. I'm connecting to the internet directly (No proxy set). I'm running on Madrake 9.1 Linux with kernel 2.4.19 on my own personal computer. Kernel is configured with GSecurities. Not behind any hardware firewall or any firewall pc. For info, i can do a svn list http://svn.freepascal.org/svn/lazarus/trunk successfully. But I can't checkout or update. Upon checkout, it creates the ./svn directory in the destination directory, and then it hangs until it timed out, without checking out the files. Thanks again Funky Beast ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Marc · 2005-10-03 12:45 maybe your ISP has some "transparent" cachingproxy inbetween ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Funky Beast · 2005-10-03 15:07 Quotemaybe your ISP has some "transparent" cachingproxy inbetwee If thats true, then are there any alternatives to participate than to download the whole snapshot each time? Any solution is appreciated. Can't let my 1.6m lines of code sink like Titanic. I'm using whatever lcl and fpc has to offer, and whatever thats not there that I need, I'll be writing it. It superceeds rewriting my projects from scratch with another language. But I do hope to contribute back to the community if I add something to or tweak lazarus in my working copy. Thanks in Advance Funky Beast ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Marc · 2005-10-04 12:42 see http://subversion.tigris.org/faq.html#proxy for more details Unfortunately it looks like the svn server hosted by the fpc team doens't listen to https or port 81. Maybe you can mail this as suggestion to the mailinglist. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Funky Beast · 2005-11-12 02:47 Quote from: "Marc"maybe your ISP has some "transparent" cachingproxy inbetween Hi Marc, Seems like you are right on the "transparent" cachingproxy thing. I've tried numerous tcp and http tunneling softwares for the past month, but with no luck. Some of the verbose msgs from the tunnelling softwares indicates responses from my ISP which says "Request has been denied by access control configuration.". Guess my ISP implemented some restrictions on methods that are allowed for the http services. Tried numerous checkouts with the ones with svn:// protocols and https:// protocols(with specified ports) successfully. Only had problems with the ones with http:// protocols. Would like to mail a suggestion to the FPC mailing list, can you indicate which mailing list should i send it to? (There are 4 of them) Thanks in Advance Funky Beast ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2005-11-13 10:26 Quote from: "Funky Beast"I'm using whatever lcl and fpc has to offer, and whatever thats not there that I need, I'll be writing it. That´s the spirit =) Soon you will be able to create a good gui app in a few days, and better, one that runs on linux, windows and mac os. Lazarus also has a mailing list. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Funky Beast · 2005-11-14 02:33 Quote from: "sekel" I think you should send it to the devel mailling list. Thanks, i'll send the suggestion to fpc-devel mailing list, as this concerns about asking the fpc-team to let their svn server to listen to svn:// and https:// requests also. Funky Beast
