FPC_DOTTEDUNITS lazarus / 64-FPC development ---------------------------------------------------------------------- deadserious · 2023-09-14 08:25 I'm looking at latest sources and noticed a bunch of [$IFDEF FPC_DOTTEDUNITS}. I don't see where it's actually defined anywhere though so assume it's a change in progress. Is there any information about the plan or strategy on a namespaced RTL? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marcov · 2023-09-14 08:47 Yes, that it is part of, but still under construction. Note that it will be the RTL compiled in a different way, and combined with all other Delphi/unicode changes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- deadserious · 2023-09-14 15:13 Is there a design doc or project doc outlining what and how it's being done? Is there anything I can do to help speed along the task? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marcov · 2023-09-14 15:43 There is a wiki page iirc, but I haven't delved into it yet. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- deadserious · 2023-09-19 14:01 For anyone reading this thread, the page can be found here: https://wiki.freepascal.org/FPC_Dotted_RTL ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Gustavo 'Gus' Carreno · 2023-12-30 09:43 Hey Y'all, Maybe this is a dumb question, but after reading the above mentioned Wiki entry, one question popped into my mind: Is it possible to use the dotted unit's names if we haven't compiled using the make ... FPC_DOTTEDUNITS=1 ...? I was discussing the dotted units transition on Discord and I'm wanting to actually add an entry to my TestStar list about this subject, but I'm not sure the default way that fpcupdeluxe installs stuff will allow me. Can anyone clarify this, please? Many thanks in advance!! Cheers, Gus ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marcov · 2023-12-30 12:18 Afaik no. You really need a dottedunits release, everything is linked together in the makefiles. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Gustavo 'Gus' Carreno · 2023-12-30 12:26 Hey Marco, Quote from: marcov on December 30, 2023, 01:18:09 pmAfaik no. This will undoubtedly help me in my TestDottedUnits entry into TestStar. I guess that my next step is to bug/nudge DonAlfredo in adding an option to actually have this come to life under fpcupdeluxe. Ermmm, another question arises: Is the dotted stuff mature enough to actually allow us mere mortals to have a go at it? Many thanks!! Cheers, Gus
