Easy editable lpi's lazarus / 6-IDE-CodeTools ---------------------------------------------------------------------- pik33 · 2010-09-17 15:22 Once again my .lpi was damaged, i don't know why, so I had to restore it from (old!!!) backup (.lpi in backup directory was not good, too), because Lazarus refused to open my project. Now,  I'm happy I have a several backups of my project because it is dificult to write new .lpi in text editor and it is waste of time to make a new project and add, one by one, my units to it. ( I did both of these in the past...) I think about one of two solutions. 1. automatically rebuild .lpi from .lpr when .lpi is damaged 2. make "user writable" .lpi creator/editor/damage repair tool Is it possible to add these features to Lazarus? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- typo · 2010-09-17 15:58 Why do you want to edit the LPI file manually? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- pik33 · 2010-09-17 16:39 Both .lpi's - in project dir and in its backup dir, was damaged. Lazarus couldn't open my project - at all. It isn't first time when I got damaged .lpi At first such event, I wrote .lpi manually. I opened other project's .lpi, then, in second instance of KWrite, I wrote my own. Next time I created a new project, then added all my units to it. Since then, I always have a backup copies of my  .lpi...  I don't know, why it fails so often... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- typo · 2010-09-17 18:09 It has never failed to me. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Leledumbo · 2010-09-18 06:44 Quote1. automatically rebuild .lpi from .lpr when .lpi is damagedThis one seems difficult as .lpr doesn't contain any project information, even where to look for its units. Quote2. make "user writable" .lpi creator/editor/damage repair toolI don't know what is the standard of improperly structured XML. Should it halt with error? Ignore (like HTML)? Other than those two, I think it's not difficult to write.
