Object components defined in other files (uses) lazarus / 6-IDE-CodeTools ---------------------------------------------------------------------- leiteiro · 2007-05-15 12:05 When we use the properties editor, the editor dosen´t find the objects defined in another files, event if their are in the uses list. Example: I have a database component in unit DMconnections. Then I have a table component where i need to put that database. the property editor don´t show that database object ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------- Unit DMConnectUnit; Interface Uses   {$IFNDEF LCL} Windows, Messages, DBTables, DB,{$ELSE} LclIntf, LMessages, LclType, LResources, {$ENDIF}   SysUtils, Classes, sqldb; Type      { TDMConnect }      TDMConnect = Class(TDataModule)           IBConnection1: TIBConnection;      Private           { Private declarations }      Public           { Public declarations }           Function Open:boolean;      End; Var      DMConnect: TDMConnect; ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- ---------------------  In the other form  ------- unit ParentescosUnit; interface uses   {$IFNDEF LCL} Windows, Messages, {$ELSE} LclIntf, LMessages, LclType, LResources, {$ENDIF}   SysUtils, Variants, Classes, Graphics, Controls, Forms,   DMConnectUnit; type   { TFSitEmprego }   TFSitEmprego = class(TForm)     SQLQuery1: TSQLQuery;   private     { Private declarations }   public     { Public declarations }   end; var   MainForm: TMainForm; implementation . . . . // I cant use   DMConnect.IBConnection1 in DATABASE property of SQLQuery1 component. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CCRDude · 2007-05-15 13:45 You're speaking about two different things here, and it's not quite clear which one you are complaining about: Quotethe property editor don´t show that database object If property editors would show every object from every unit, they would be way too crowded. The OI showing only the ones from the current unit is as intended. QuoteI cant use DMConnect.IBConnection1 in DATABASE property of SQLQuery1 component. If you really cannot use it, even by dynamically assigning it, that would actually be a bug. Which one is it? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- leiteiro · 2007-05-15 15:20 Well, I come from delphi, and I´m trying to use lazarus. for example, on delphi, if you open a combobox to select the diferent´s dataset´s (TDATASET type) the property editor show´s all dataset (TDATASET type)  on that unit and all dataset´s specificated on the other units specificated in the uses list. So the property editor dosen't show every objects´t, but every object´s of that type. (tdataset) or (Tcolor) or (tdatabase) like the property as been difined. if the property is tdataset then it shows all tdatasets objects  from all units  listed is the uses clause of that unit. Which one is it? at runtime I can do somthing like this without any problem: SQLQuery1.Database := DMConnect.IBConnection1; Sorry for my english I hop you understand what I tryed to say.
