I saw it on a patch commit on BugTracker and I liked it very much. I
think it's not only a technical issue, it's a also a question of
choice.

It's more of a question that no-one took the time to make this to the
end, yet. Simple examples work, and there is a full guide about how
this works and how to implement it here:

I suppose you are talking about lcl unicode support. Just generic fpc
unicode support works well for many years now.
