what about a shortcut to find the unit of class. lazarus / 6-IDE-CodeTools ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rodrigo · 2005-04-10 01:46 Insert in IDE Lazarus one shortcut to find the unit of class. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- matthijs · 2005-04-10 07:04 There is a short cut! Press ctrl and click on a class in the editor and it will open the definition of the class. Menu option Search -> Find declaration at cursor does the same. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rodrigo · 2005-04-11 02:02 it do very much find unit of class in project, but when i am creating components or classes and put a class in class new, example: Type     TTest=class(TComponent)     private         fldCollection:TCollection;     ....     end;  It don't find the unit of TCollection , and i have find the unit of class in directories of lazarus. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- matthijs · 2005-04-11 09:53 Could you give another example, as this maybe a bad example. TCollection is defined in Classes and that unit is allways include. In my tests doing MouseClick allways brings me to the unit in which it is defined. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rodrigo · 2005-04-11 20:48 {This is example of code that I am development:} {abstract(library to core database)} unit DatabaseCore; {$mode objfpc}{$H+} interface uses   Classes, SysUtils, LResources, Forms, Controls, Graphics, Dialogs ; type   {abstract(class to core database)}   TDatabaseCore = class(TComponent)   private     { Private declarations }     fldTables:TCollection;   protected     { Protected declarations }   public     { Public declarations }     constructor Create(AOwner:TComponent);override;   published     { Published declarations }   end; procedure Register; implementation procedure Register; begin   RegisterComponents('Data Access',[TDatabaseCore]); end; constructor TDatabaseCore.Create(AOwner:TComponent); begin    inherited Create(AOwner);     fldTables:=TCollection.Create(TItemCollection); end; end. {I need find the unit of TCollection to may compile this unit, to do this is need find the unit of class TCollection and " find declaration" - in mouse right click  and dont do. You have any idea ? } ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rodrigo · 2005-04-11 21:54 Excuse me. I forget of put the depence of LCL in package and after try again do. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2006-02-22 16:40 A lot of the stuff in the propedits unit will not be found if compiling third party Delphi code that uses propety editors. Trying to identify the unit that third party procedures use can be quite a hassle since the uses are different in Delphi and Lazarus. Especially frustrating is tracking down when to use LCLIntf, LCLType and LCLProc, Messages and LMessages. I realize a lot of Delphi code is Win32 specific, but I still think that a class tree is a wonderful suggestion. Just out of curiousity, where or how is the code in componenttreeview.pas used? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mattias · 2006-02-22 23:46 LCLIntf contains stuff to bypass the LCL and access the LCL interfaces. LCLType contains base types and constants. LCLProc contains basic procedures, debugging stuff. In fact so basic, that they are not LCL specific, maybe better placed in the RTL. Messages contains comaptibility types for easy porting Delphi/Win32 code. It redirects to the types in LMessages. LMessages contains the infamous message records, that are used so often by Delphi/Win32 code, that the most common of them are available in the LCL as well. About propedits unit: Although the LCL tries to be very Delphi compatible, the IDE does not. The propedits unit is an exception, as many Delphi components rely on this. What is missing/different? Maybe we can add it. About class tree: What do you mean? A browser, a document, a tool? About componenttreeview unit: Did you read the header of the unit? It is the treeview the the top of the Object Inspector. But of course you can use for other uses. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2006-02-23 13:28 Best would be a hyperlink index of procedures/functions that describes what uses are needed. Second to that, Borland once published a posted showing the object hierarchy, so something similar to that may provide a quick glance at the lazarus class hierarchy. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mattias · 2006-02-23 13:40 Maybe something like this: http://lazarus-ccr.sourceforge.net/docs/lcl/index.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RudieD · 2006-02-23 19:56 Or something like this: http://www.freepascal.org/fcl/classchart.gif
