LazReport 0.98 only working "half way"e

I have a problem on OpenSuSE 12.2 and whatever Lazarus version I try
(1.08 stabloe, 1.1 from CVS, older CVS copies...).

The lazreport component is there, but when I open the designer, the
background of the space where the report is supposed to be is grey -
not white. I can add boxes, lines and stuff on the report, but I won't
see anything. Only in the preview.

That renders working with it impossible. Any fixes for that?

Thank You! I am getting more and more convinced about Lazarous.

Installed QtCurve and switche GTK style to it (I am on KDE 4.5) and it
works.
