Running app on Android 5.0.1+

I can't seem to get an app to run on Android 5.0.1/5.1.1 using Laz
v1.6/FPC 3.1.1/LaztoApk 0.9.0.34 (android-ndk-r10e), it works fine on
v4.4.2 though. I am compiling on Winders.
Maybe I am overlooking something?
I backtracked and when no components are on the form it runs the fine,
as soon as you add components to the form, compile and run it will not
start with the generic error 'Unfortunately, APP has stopped'. Works
fine on 4.4.2 but craters on 5.0.1. 
Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the links, that kind of reflects what is happening with me,
oh well good progress so far
