LazToApk vs Android Module Wizrd vs other for FPC app? lazarus / 43-Android ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dieselnutjob · 2015-12-23 18:47 I have just started to get into this because I have customers asking for an Android app instead of a PC app. I don't want to start any kind of war, but I would like some opinions on where I should go, given my particular scenario, which won't be everyones. The PC app has tens of thousands of lines of code. It is multithreaded. One thread for gui, one for protocol stack loop, one to talk to an FTDI chip and an Atmel processor behind it. The gui code is using fpgui, and all of the buttons, textbox, combobox etc are defined in code.  I use Lazarus as a convenient text editor basically but it is a pure fpc app. The gui isn't that much, and I will have to rewrite it for a phone screen anyway.  What I mean is that I don't actually need a gui based form designer thing, though equally I could use one if that's the easiest way. The PC app is already distributed to customers in Linux, Windows and Mac OSX (using X windows) formats, it also works on Raspian last time I tried it. I don't mind whether I use Windows or Linux to port it to Android. I have already tried LazToApk and made the example app run on a phone, (but not yet above Kitkat).  I have also made a cross compiler successfully as described here http://wiki.freepascal.org/Android but have not gotten any further than compiling a helloworld app, and have not figured out how to convert it to an apk. Now I have read that there is something called Android Module Wizard as well. I would like to have the simplest, most portable apk that I can, but I want a binary app as it has some security keys and things in there, and thousands of lines of protocol definition.  I think that arm only is okay but by portable I mean that I would want a single apk that can run on anything from Android 4,5 and 6 if possible. What should I spend my time on? thanks, DNJ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jmpessoa · 2015-12-23 19:38 You can continue using LazToApk to get "All" android tools... Wel, I do not know if "Lamw: Lazarus Android Module Wizard" fulfills your needs... and even if it  has the maturity to do so ... But Lamw produce a "normal" android  "Apk" to package a Free Pascal [RTL/FCL] ".so" ... with some facility [wizard, form designer, 60+ components ... 60+ demos ... etc] You can to begin with "readme_get_start.txt"...
