Differences between "Delphi-XE5" and Lazarus lazarus / 43-Android ---------------------------------------------------------------------- laguna · 2013-09-28 07:35 Hi, I installed the trial version of Delphi XE5. This version struck me positively for acluni aspects and negatively to others. On the positive side we have the recognition of the smartphone and the direct execution of programs by Delphi. On the negative side, however, for a commercial product, we have the poor documentation on Android, complex ListView, AdMob, use of external cloud like Google Drive and DropBox. I wanted to ask, Delphi XE5, which compiler do you use? (Free Pascal) XE5 Delphi compiles to native code? Why do not you implement the lazarus running on smartphones? What a difference there is between the file produced by Delphi to Lazarus? Thanks to all. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marcov · 2013-09-28 09:31 Quote from: laguna on September 28, 2013, 09:35:24 am Why do not you implement the lazarus running on smartphones? Lazarus is driven by contributions by volunteers. We ship what we get :-) QuoteWhat a difference there is between the file produced by Delphi to Lazarus? Afaik both are based on the same base technology (natively compiled Pascal), but by two totally independent pascal toolchains and libraries. Contrary to Delphi's windows offerings, Delphi's non Windows offerings take a different tack wrt GUI development, which is different from which Lazarus follows. (Lazarus has the same philosophy as the core Windows Delphi product). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Leledumbo · 2013-09-28 13:11 QuoteWhy do not you implement the lazarus running on smartphones?Because it doesn't make sense, compiling FOR smartphones is another thing though and you could see subforums regarding WinCE, iOS and Android which means Lazarus is already capable to build applications for those platforms. QuoteWhat a difference there is between the file produced by Delphi to Lazarus? In what aspect do you want to know? Executable format? Object file format? Architecture? There are a lot of ways to answer this. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- laguna · 2013-09-29 10:05 I have a lot of respect and gratitude for those who are developing Lazarus and FreePascal. I know that "Delpho-XE5" is a commercial product, I wanted to try to see what progress it has made towards Embarcadero Android. To my amazement I saw a well-made product, but being a commercial product I have not found such as components for AdMob and others. I tried Laz4Android I have to say is that it works very well,  have difficulty in creating the APK. I wanted to know, in what format eseguiibile are produced APK?  in native code? Thank you for the great work you do. greetings Vincenzo ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Leledumbo · 2013-09-29 22:35 QuoteI wanted to know, in what format eseguiibile are produced APK?  in native code?Native dynamic library loaded by small Java wrapper (pure native code seems possible with NativeActivity, but LCL currently doesn't take that route).
