Linux commands in Windows for Android lazarus / 43-Android ---------------------------------------------------------------------- polypress · 2013-08-18 08:48 This may be a very basic question, but I am attempting to install windows based lazarus for android applications, and I have come across commands such as "svn co http://svn.freepascal.org/svn/fpc/trunk fpcsrc" which is a linux command. Do I need to dual boot again between windows and linux in order to process such a command, or can I use it from within lazarus or windows (not the command prompt), or is there a windows equivalent? I have just removed linux from my dual boot system because it was swandering valuable resources, and I prefer not to have to reinstall it. Regards ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BigChimp · 2013-08-18 08:52 No it's not a Linux command. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Leledumbo · 2013-08-18 08:56 Nah, SVN is NOT a linux command. It's a version control system that works across platforms and you can do exactly the same command provided that you have installed a SVN client. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- polypress · 2013-08-18 09:25 Thank you both. There are also commands such as "make clean crossall crossinstall OS_TARGET=android CPU_TARGET=arm INSTALL_PREFIX=C:\Develop\FPC\pp". Does this use the SVN client aswell? Regards ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BigChimp · 2013-08-18 09:38 Normally, I would happily supply an answer - but it seems you'd prefer asking for every answer rather than doing some research. Why don't you do some research and find out - e.g. run make -h, make --help and make -? Running commands with those switches generally return the help for that command. They'll tell you what kind of command it is. (Of course, you can also look for make.exe in your svn directory or in other directories of your path). Finally, a google search for make.exe surely gives some insights. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Leledumbo · 2013-08-19 15:56 make[.exe] is the Makefile interpreter, that make command you specify does NOT have anything related to svn. It simply builds the application/libraries/whatever from source given rules in (possibily hierarchical by directories) Makefiles. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marcov · 2013-08-19 16:30 See also http://www.stack.nl/~marcov/buildfaq.pdf for some background info. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2013-08-21 04:44 Use something like this in Windows to run command line commands: http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Getting_Lazarus#Using_a_batch_scrip t_in_Windows Windows has a command line. Just run cmd.exe and see it. But I don't normally use the Windows command line directly as it is very limited. I prefer to create batch scripts, which allows me to more easily change the commands and rerun them.
