Prettier plotting lazarus / 39-Graphics ---------------------------------------------------------------------- linnemann · 2014-10-27 19:09 Hello I've been looking to a "prettier" alternative to the TAChart library. There are a lot of neat libraries out there. Can javascript libraries eg. Flotr2 http://www.humblesoftware.com/flotr2/ or Dimple http://dimplejs.org/ be used inside fpc/lazarus. There are also CairoPlot http://cairoplot.sourceforge.net/ but it has no bindings to pascal but exists for C. Does anyone have an implementation that you are happy with? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- wp · 2014-10-27 20:14 What is it in particular that you don't like with TAChart? Do you know http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/BGRABitmap_tutorial_TAChart or http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/TAChart_Tutorial:_Background_design which demonstrate you to brush up the charts by means of gradients etc. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marcov · 2014-10-27 20:24 Quote from: linnemann on October 27, 2014, 08:09:06 pmI've been looking to a "prettier" alternative to the TAChart library. Afaik you can instantiate browsers within Lazarus programs, so why not? If you are willing to work hard for it, it is no problem I guess. QuoteThere are also CairoPlot http://cairoplot.sourceforge.net/ but it has no bindings to pascal but exists for C. That's worse, since it will require a whole bunch of external DLLs, and you will have to carefully manage their versions. But bindings for various Cairo and GTK libraries exist, so you can probably simply translate it. QuoteDoes anyone have an implementation that you are happy with? I like TAChart, but afaik Steema also supports TChart (the full product, a cut down version is packaged with Delphi) on Lazarus? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- wp · 2014-10-27 20:32 QuoteSteema also supports TChart on LazarusI know for the commercial version at least. The last time when I saw it they still had issues with design-time code, but run-time was very nice. It's not cheep though... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- linnemann · 2014-10-28 18:11 QuoteWhat is it in particular that you don't like with TAChart? I have no gripes about TAChart, its just as its not as nice looking as some of the other plotting libraries I have used in other languages, thats all.
