Form is shrinking after several days lazarus / 39-Graphics ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tudi_x · 2013-11-01 13:50 Hi, I wrote an application that performs some tasks every other minute. I leave the application opened as some time I check if it ran. When I check after a few days it is shrinking as it can be seen in the attach (+5 days). Would you please know the cause or how it could be fixed? Lazarus version is 1.0.10. Coded on Windows XP Pro 32 bits. Running on Windows 2008 64 bits. Thank you, Tudor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- macmike · 2013-11-01 14:33 I've run apps for several days doing things on timers with no strange affects. Probably your code is changing the width of the form by accident somewhere, or changing the contents of something that is auto-sizing? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- engkin · 2013-11-01 14:36 Here I go again, guessing:  Quote from: tudi_x on November 01, 2013, 02:50:11 pmWould you please know the cause... Your pictures show that only the height is affected with a difference of about 188 pixels and you mentioned 5+ days, that's roughly 37 pixels a day. More than one pixel per hour.  Your normal picture shows a code that runs every 30 minutes, I would check that code first, if found nothing, then look for "height" in your source code. A quick fix, while looking for the real cause, would be to store the height and restore it every other minute with the other tasks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2013-11-01 15:15 Forms can also be resized by the OS (afaik) to the maximum of the screen resolution. (Not sure so) So if for example something updated your gfx drivers, screen resolution may have temporarily been lower.... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ausdigi · 2013-11-19 05:32 Windows certainly resizes some windows when the screen resolution changes - but it changes them to fit. But 669 is a strange height. The other thing is 5 days is a long time for gremlins to wander about and change window sizes.  If the system gets used it could be accidentally resized but I am assuming it gets resized every time. Next thing to do is to start logging window and screen sizes to see when it actually happens. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- User137 · 2013-11-19 13:49 Is there any written code that changes the window size in the application, any at all? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tudi_x · 2013-12-16 19:33 Hi All, I am coming again on this one. Basically what I did is to modify the timer to include the original height - now it looks the application maintains its size. The issue now is that for another application that does not have timer - this application window got smaller. Basically in this application there is no code to update the window size - it is basically an application that just connects to an oracle database (Zeos components) and runs a query. This is I think a show stopper for getting these applications to a real commercial environment. Thank you, Tudor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BigChimp · 2013-12-17 08:30 The only real way you can get this solved (other than fixing code yourself) is by post an issue on the bug tracker with a (small <***>) complete example project that demonstrates the problem. Please don't forget to indicate Lazarus version, OS, etc. This way, developers can try to reproduce the situation, and try and debug it. Alternatively, as a first step, you could start by posting a sample project in this thread so other users (and any developers that happen to read it and are interested) can have a look at it. <***> Does this also happen if you strip out the Zeos components? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Laksen · 2013-12-17 10:36 Is the program running on a virtual machine or are you using remote desktop tu the computer It's running on? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tudi_x · 2013-12-17 14:47 The program is not running in a virtual machine. I am connecting with remote desktop to the computer (with mRemoteNG). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- userx-bw · 2014-01-22 16:13 if you have kids maybe they are Changing the resolution on your screen making it appear to be changing sizes .. you knows kids always messing around ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bylaardt · 2014-02-02 00:07 II think another user access remotely (like TeamViewer) with another resolution. Make a test.
