[solved] Imagelist not shown on form lazarus / 39-Graphics ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jeanchristophe · 2013-10-17 07:44 Hello I am still a newbie, and I have problems with the component TImagelist on Lazarus 1.0.12 on windows (XP). I have a imagelist component on my form. I load som pictures in it. debug the project and I see nothing, the form i empty. I made a mistake, that is for sure, but wich? In the properties list, I have not so many possibilities (11), and it is looking like, I am missing some. Can you please tell me, what's can be wrong? Best Regards Jean-Christophe ---------------------------------------------------------------------- taazz · 2013-10-17 08:38 What do you expect to see on the form specifically? Imagelist is a non visual components that keeps a list of images in memory to be used by various components like menus, treeviews, listviews and others to show small icons imagelist crops or shrinks all images to a specific size defined by the properties height and width. For more information try searching the wiki for timagelist. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jeanchristophe · 2013-10-17 09:15 Hello taazz, Thank you for your answer! Maybe can you help me to find the component I need! I have a database where I kept the pictures file path. I would like to read these pictures in a component, where I will have a preview of the pictures and choose them by a click, If I want to. Do you know, where I have to fetch? Best Regards Jean-Christophe ---------------------------------------------------------------------- taazz · 2013-10-17 09:21 I think you are looking for a TImage it will show a single picture inside a form and it has events (eg onclick) that you can use to respond and take action. It is capable of showing only a single picture. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jeanchristophe · 2013-10-17 09:34 Then I have to finde a container where the path will be read and will create a TImage for each pictures. Now, I have to find the right container! Is it a discussion we can continue here, or do I have to move my question(s) somewhere else? Best Regards Jean-Christophe ---------------------------------------------------------------------- taazz · 2013-10-17 09:53 What kind of container? I do not understand what you want. As far as I remember the Timage control can load image directly from disk using Image1.Picture.LoadFromFile(MyFilename); it does not need a "container" of any kind what problem do you have with TImage? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jeanchristophe · 2013-10-17 10:32 I don't have problems with Timage  What I want is to get preview of 100 or 1000 imageS. As far as I know, you can just have 1 image in a TImage. Right now I am looking at a Tlistview who can maybe be the tool, I am looking for, if I can scale the previews, as I want. Best Regards Jean-Christophe ---------------------------------------------------------------------- howardpc · 2013-10-17 10:56 Have you tried something as simple as TOpenPictureDialog combined with a TImage? Depending on your OS this dialog is quite flexible, offering previews etc. If such a basic picture selection process is good enough, then having set the dialog's properties appropriately, code like this is all you need: Code: [Select]procedure TForm1.Button1Click(Sender: TObject); begin   if OpenPictureDialog1.Execute then    Image1.Picture.LoadFromFile(OpenPictureDialog1.FileName); end; ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jeanchristophe · 2013-10-17 11:00 Thank you for your answer howardpc I think, i am going to close the topic, because I think, I have found the way to do it. I found a software wrotted with Lazarus called PicViewer. I believe that it has, what I am looking for. Thank you for your interest and your time. Have a nice day. Best Regards Jean-Christophe
