DeleD 3-D ported for Lazarus lazarus / 39-Graphics ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JuhaManninen · 2013-02-10 15:26 I have ported DeleD for Lazarus and committed it into a new SVN branch. See details here:  http://www.delgine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4722 Please check out and test. I would need help for replacing ScanLine and for solving the broken MDI / docking GUI. Now all the tool windows are floating separately. I personally will concentrate on other priorities in near future. I have used more time and energy for this porting than I planned. Regards, Juha ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JuhaManninen · 2013-02-10 18:18 I created an account for this site:  www.pascalgamedevelopment.com and tried to make a forum post, but there is no button for a new post. There is only a button for replying to another post. How is it possible? Juha ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Andru · 2013-02-10 19:56 As I remember you need to be un-moderated first, so you should post here. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- User137 · 2013-02-10 20:25 I installed GR32_DSGN_L.lpk, rebuilt Lazarus, but DeleD still refuses to open up in Lazarus. I get: Quote"The following package failed to load: GR32_Lazarus See Project -> Project Inspector"Problem is, whatever i select will close the project, opening a new empty project instead. Have you manually created a new .lpk for the GR32, and should i do that aswell? edit: Managed to open project so i changed GR32 in Project Inspector. For Coolbar needed to install latest Lazarus though, and for that also latest FPC... DeleD compiled now though, crashes after showing error about Texture directory not found. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JuhaManninen · 2013-02-10 21:49 Andru, thanks, I replied to the existing thread in Pascal Game Development. The only working way is to first build the run-time package explicitly and then install the design-time package (recompiling Lazarus). It must be caused by a circular reference between the units + a compiler bug. Quoteedit: Managed to open project so i changed GR32 in Project Inspector. No, latest FPC is not needed for latest Lazarus. The published FPC 2.6.0 is perfectly OK. I use it myself. I found this from Deled.ini : [Dirs] documentation=C:\SW\Deled\trunk\Executable\Help scenefiles=C:\Program Files (x86)\DeleD CE\Scenes\ xfiles=C:\Program Files (x86)\DeleD CE\X Files\ allPrefabFiles=C:\Program Files (x86)\DeleD CE\Prefabs\ currentPrefabFiles=C:\Program Files (x86)\DeleD CE\Prefabs\ texturefiles=C:\Program Files (x86)\DeleD CE\Textures\ picturefiles=C:\Program Files (x86)\DeleD CE\Pictures\ pluginfiles=C:\Program Files (x86)\DeleD CE\Plugins\ raytracingfiles=C:\Program Files (x86)\DeleD CE\Raytracing\ Indeed it refers to the installed binary's paths. I will try to solve it... Juha ---------------------------------------------------------------------- User137 · 2013-02-10 22:03 Quote from: JuhaManninen on February 10, 2013, 10:49:22 pmNo, latest FPC is not needed for latest Lazarus. The published FPC 2.6.0 is perfectly OK. I use it myself.I was using month or older SVN 2.7.1 version. There are certain IFDEF's in Lazarus SVN which created some DEFINE's, which in turn attempted to use things that were actually not in my FPC. Would it even be possible to differentiate 2.7.1 revisions with compiler directives? (By the way, not even Lazarus seems to know. In about dialog it says v. 34724, even though i Updated SVN head revision just today. Number should be above 40000.) I can't remember anymore which files were causing these issues... could be that i even altered them myself to be able to build Lazarus. There was mistake like ifdef's around a variable in class definition, but then it was used without the define check in class constructor. Something like that would only compile on latest settings. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JuhaManninen · 2013-02-10 23:28 Only the 2 latest released compiler versions, and the very latest development (trunk) version are supported for Lazarus compilation. In this case you indeed must update your FPC trunk version. The 2 latest released versions are now 2.6.0 and 2.6.2, although 2.6.2 is not really released yet. QuoteBy the way, not even Lazarus seems to know. In about dialog it says v. 34724, even though i Updated SVN head revision just today. Number should be above 40000. Did you update your SVN client recently? TortoiseSVN 1.7.x? You must include the cmd line tools during installation. Try running tools\svn2revisioninc.exe directly from cmd line. What it says? BTW, I think I got the paths for scenes and textures fixed. I copied the needed files to SVN server for easier testing, although such binary files don't really belong there. Please update and try again. Regards, Juha ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JuhaManninen · 2013-02-11 00:31 Regarding the problems with GR32 installation: how easy would it be to replace GR32 with another graph library? Is the API anyhow similar with some other lib? GR32 is alive and it was ported to Lazarus, but it does not look very active. It is now the only external library that must be downloaded and installed to make DeleD compile. Juha ---------------------------------------------------------------------- User137 · 2013-02-11 00:56 Not sure what it does there, maybe BGRA can replace? It's another outside library but bit more common in these circles. You mentioned that there was no scanline? I recently used RawImage in this thread: http://www.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php/topic,19599.msg113499.html #msg113499 Point of scanline is to directly get pointer to pixel data, this is the same thing without any libraries but just FPC. Also it's not a line, but whole image accessed with 1 pointer. I updated again and it compiles and runs now, even loaded 3D geometry on sample files    But there was a new problem where compile stopped on not finding .lfm files in Executable\ folder. Don't know why it searched them there, and ignored the .lfm files in Forms\ and Frames\ ? They were valid paths in project's units and include settings, so i'm puzzled. I copied all of the .lfm in the Executables\. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- joseme · 2013-02-11 01:31 Congratulations! The port works perfectly. Yesterday I installed CodeTyphon 4. When I first tried to compile DeleD Lazarus told me there were two missing libraries, pascalscript and GR32. I deleted the two requirements and added two new ones for pl_graphics32 and pl_pascalscript and everything worked after that. Thank you! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JuhaManninen · 2013-02-11 09:19 Quote from: User137 on February 11, 2013, 01:56:52 amYou mentioned that there was no scanline? [Edit:] You can get write access to the SVN branch if you like. I don't need to be a middle-man then. I removed the copied files from revisioning but they should be copied back automatically. I will check later. QuoteI give your DeleD 3D port to our lab. Until now works on win32 only I will release all source modifications. It is a work in process. Making it cross-platform is on my ToDo-list. There are many other issues to be solved, for example the MDI / docking and ScanLine problems. For this reason it makes no sense for you to fork this new DeleD port branch. Instead please make your changes directly to the SVN branch, after the project admin Jeroen has given you write access there. If you read my original message here:  http://www.delgine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4722 you notice that I hope others to participate. My own energy / time / skills / motivation may not be enough to finish this port. I think it is crucial NOT to divide our limited resources between competing forks now. It would bring absolutely no benefit for anyone. Please write to the DeleD forum that you want to have write access to the branch.
