Is AlphaBlend Implemented On Linux? lazarus / 39-Graphics ---------------------------------------------------------------------- garlar27 · 2011-01-17 14:03 Is AlphaBlend Implemented On Linux? if not: Does any body knows if someone is working on it? Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- cpalx · 2011-01-17 14:18 If the drivers are correctly installed then works perfeclty [in linux] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- garlar27 · 2011-01-17 15:08 How do I know f the drivers are correctly installed? My Ubuntu 9.10 can show PNG's AlphaBlend correctly. but within Lazarus apps it don't shows them as expected. I've attached 2 PNGs the original (btnPre.png) and a screen capture of a skinned button I'm doing where the AphaBlend isn't working. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- cpalx · 2011-01-17 16:18 what version of lazarus/fpc are you using? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- garlar27 · 2011-01-17 16:29 0.9.28.2-0 Beta FPC 2.2.4 I just wanted to know if it was fixed in the new version or the svn ---------------------------------------------------------------------- vvzh · 2011-01-17 17:55 As of 0.9.30 branch, it does not work with GTK2 widgetset but works with Qt. Though you will need libqt4pas to run Lazarus applications built using Qt widgetset. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- garlar27 · 2011-01-17 20:16 Dough!!!  Nobody is working to implement it in GTK2? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2011-01-18 09:37 garlar27, this is your chance ---------------------------------------------------------------------- garlar27 · 2011-01-18 14:09 Well, I'm screwed... I still don't have what it takes to do that (specially time)... May be I'll try during my vacations... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- José Mejuto · 2011-01-18 18:38 Quote from: Vincent Snijders on January 18, 2011, 10:37:19 amgarlar27, this is your chance Hello, Do you know the reason why a bitmap is being used for the mask instead a pixmap ? Or why not a pixbuf is being used ? I'm pretty new to gtk so I'm quite lost ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2011-01-19 07:51 Since you are quoting me, I will answer: No, I don't know. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Marc · 2011-01-19 09:34 The simple reason is that in the beginneing there were no alpha rendering functions in gtk. The only thing possible was masking. thats why a bitmap is used. And to keep lazarus a bit remote X friendly, all client side rendering was avoided. Its on my roadmap to add support for drawing on a cairo context (which supports alpha drawing)
