fphttpclient last version lazarus / 38-Networking and Web Programming ---------------------------------------------------------------------- luca · 2021-10-12 08:41 Hi, I made some test to get some information from a intranet site. I'm using method get of fphttpclient. I received a timeout error during the operation: I guess it's a problem to reach the IP of the server when I'm connected from home to my office. I tried to use Delphi THTTPClient and it works in the proper way; the same for a test made using C# and the method getResponse of WebRequest class. I look at the IP address of the host. While Lazarus show an IP4 address, running C# the address is an IP6. Can you help me to understand? Thanks Luca ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Warfley · 2021-10-12 14:25 Well pretty simple, the fphttpclient uses the TInetSocket from the ssockets unit and this is simply not IPv6 ready ---------------------------------------------------------------------- luca · 2021-10-12 15:17 Many thanks, do you know if there is another component I can use to work around the problem? Regards Luca ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Warfley · 2021-10-12 15:19 There are many networking libraries. Indy, Synapse or LNet. I don't know about the current state of Delphi, but last time I used it, it shipped Indy, so if you are familiar with doing it in Delphi, it's probably with Indy ---------------------------------------------------------------------- luca · 2021-10-13 19:25 I'm using Indy. I found a solution in this https://stackoverflow.com/questions/15166939/how-to-configure- indy-v10-to-support-ipv4-ipv6 I tried to get the URL using a short connection timeout (2000ms). In case of error I make a new get request by enclosing hostname between square brakets to force Indy to use IPv6. Hope It can be useful. Regards. Luca
